It would have a Fabia Monte Carlo 1.6CR 105 i suppose - nothing else in that range takes my fancy!

If I had 12k now then I'd be looking at S1 Lotus Elise/Exige. Think a decent S2 Exige would be out of budget

Great all round cheap to run car and it is under 13k with stock Skoda discounts.

Same as Aspman, I wouldn't buy new. But if I had to, a Polo 1.2 TDi Blue Motion should come in under the budget I'd hope. 90mpg... yes please .

I wouldn't spend £13k on a brand new car unless it was cheaper than buying a used one (or ready built one in the car of a kit car). I can only ever see myself buying cars that have already lost a big chunk in depreciation.

I think the Niva is pretty cool actually, I'd have to consider one if I wanted a cheap no frills 4x4.
