Shocking Customer Service

Featured Replies

We ordered our car Back in February and it has not long arrived in the dealership. When we were arranging collection they ask for an extra £1750 as they said they could no longer offer the same value for a our part exchange. I called skoda customer services and they told me they were not prepared to help as the car had been with the dealers for a month. I then called the dealers back and ask them what was happening they said they would look into. They came back and said that the car had arrived on the 27th July as customer services said be had been damaged and had not arrived with them until the 30th August. When I pressed them on the damage they said the front wing had a dent and scratch and the drivers door and rear passenger door were scratch. So now I am being asked to pay extra for a damaged repaired car. This is still ongoing after a week. Does any one no if there is any one in skoda uk that can sort this out.

That's pretty shocking, I'd press for another car with the original agreed price. Did you sign and get a copy of the sale agreement? I'd be tempted to ask for your deposit back and try another dealer! If you do cancel, you "might" be able to claim for the hit on the p/x value as they have breached of contract. Speak to consumers direct NOW!

Jeez, that doesnt sound very fair, tbh if it was me and they said it had arrived damaged i would refuse to accept it take my old car back plus deposit and go to another dealer and re-order

I talked to com sumer direct today and they advised they have no right to ask for extra money as they made the contract. I am getting to the point were it is just about to involve using the courts but would like to manage to sort it out without having to do this.

Just goes to show the dodgy car dealer is still allive and kicking..........Speaking of which I`d tell em to stick it, demand your deposit back and go elsewhere..Most other manufactueres can supply ex stock or short delay....unlike Skoda

Problem is I like the car. Must admit I am slowly going off skoda them selfs.

You can send them a letter informing them unless you get your deposit back you'll take them to small claims court. You can also add you'll see if the local rag is interested in the story.

As above. They agreed a trade in value and gave you this in writing.

Given the car damage I would say they compensate you to the tune of the shortfall.

So did Skoda deliver it damaged, or did the dealer damage it?

They have offered the deposit back. But it is not as simple as that we have waited for 8 month for our car now and if we re order we with some one else by the time the car turns up we will be greatly out of pocket.

Its a bit vague but I think it was damage on the boat but not had confirm in black and white.

And posting the tale on Briskoda to warn others ;)

Small claims court for the losses ;)

Posting the tale is a bit like therapy as you can image I have become more and more annoyed as I have bashed my head against what seems to be a brick wall. As I bash bits fall off and I learn more about why car has been delayed. Bair in mind that this has been ongoing now for 2 weeks. I think I have been very understanding with them.

Most shocking thing is when I talked out taking them to court they actually said see you there then. Can't believe that dealers employ people who would say things like that.

You have entered into a contract for a brand new car, not a damaged one.

You are within your right to reject the ordered car (due to the damage) and for them to source you one or place a new order for an identical spec (but change the colour or something to ensure you don't get that one!) car.

It isn't your fault it has taken 8 months to reieve a damaged car, the ownus is on the dealer and or SUK so they have to honour the part ex price if you have it in black and white on the invoice.

What they should have done it had your part ex and given you a courtesy/hire car (SUK have been offering this over the last year for delayed orders) to cover you until you get your car.

Get on to Skoda UK and don't give up.

Is Robert Hazelwood still incharge?

Bowliog I had some problems with my new one when it went in for paint protection at a detailers they showed me just above o/s rear door a burn mark I hadn't seen they said that it was from a machine polisher going too deep and someone prob tried to get rid of a scratch! Unfortunately I wouldn't have a chance and after the absolutely useless pre and post delivery service even wanted balance settled and paper work signed before I saw car outside in the rain :(. Didn't stand a chance of spotting it small and only know its there as it was pointed out to me but am furious about it! But I can't prove a thing may have even been done in factory for all I know but I seriously doubt it!

As said you didn't go into contract to buy a damage repaired car in any way and the fact they are messing you around id walk! If you can take the wait and get money off them for deposit and the value your loosing threw their breech of contract do it and go elsewhere leaving them with a unsold car and money out of their own pockets for not respecting their customer!

Would be good to name and shame them too I don't think anyone considering a new skoda on the forum would go near them after seeing your experience.

The money thing is one issue and I agree entirely that the dealer shouldn't be asking you for extra money.

The damage thing is another issue entirely. I COMPLETELY understand where you are coming from, and if I was in a similar position I would DEFINITELY be pee'd off, VERY pee'd off, but you only need to go to any bodyshop to see the amount of unregistered cars they have in repairing dents and scratches. If you searched on any large motoring forums you would see stories from people who used to work at the docks taking cars off the boats and the antics they get up to with brand new vehicles to understand why it is common for cars to be damaged between leaving the factory and arriving at the dealers.

I recall reading a story on Pistonheads about a Japanese car manufacturer that actually had a bodyshop at the docks to repair the cars that were damaged on the way over.

Probably the best way to avoid damage is to pick the car up from the British/European factory yourself, but I assume run-of-the-mill manufacturers wouldn't give this kind of service.

As long as you are COMPLETELY happy with the repair (no overspray, different shades, dry areas etc) then I would sort out the money aspect and get on with enjoying the car.

There are probably quite a few of us on Briskoda that are running about in cars that have had post-factory paint and we are none-the-wiser.

I no what you mean. I had a new a Ibiza cupra and found when i was polishing it that you could scrape the paint off with your finger nail. But then then did not ask me to pay more for the privilege and got it sorted very quickly. Mind you they also notice on the PDI it was missing a wheel bolt and sent it out with out it any way. But again they sorted it.

Oh and car order through Forces cars direct and Motorline Skoda.

Oh and car order through Forces cars direct and Motorline Skoda.

I got my car threw a Motorline Skoda the Dartford branch who are in my opinion an absolute bunch of chancers/liars/con artists on many counts along the line with my order still furious to this date lots of unprofessional issues.

 Changed to fixed servicing and when questioned told me its SUK policy and they have to be like that for warranty and its how they come I offered to show them code in boot they then send a mech to change it and said they put it to variable but lied.

 Burnt paint

 Invoiced for more accessories than I got.

 Said I had to pay and sign all paperwork before actually seeing car .......

 Supplied with fuel light on and 4 miles range on maxidot.

 Cigarette ash on dashboard. (brand new car)

 Put front number plate on by screwing straight threw front bumper.

 Tried offering floor matts as an incentive to purchase ..... I had to quote VRS spec in boucher.

 Car handover was rushed and unaccommodating.

 With problems post sale assured they would find out what's happened and call me back ..... still no call 6 months later.

Thats just off the top of my head there were some other points. Safe to say their sticker was swiftly removed and will never be back on the car. Worst thing is they were not even the cheapest I had another place giving me same deal for £100 less but wasn't as handy for me but only by 30 min journey. I strongly do not recommend them. Little things like having manors when on the phone before and after a sale would have gone a long way will stick to my normal Skoda dealer in future if I bother again.

I know it must be frustrating to have waited ex amount of months for a car and then something like this happens, but i wouldn't stand for the crap they are giving you. You're the customer and i wouldn't do business with dealership who are trying to treat you as an idiot. They are not the only dealer in town, and if they can't treat you with a bit of honesty and respect, take your deposit and custom elsewhere.

I agree that this is pretty shabby service, at best.

However, I do believe the dealer is under no obligation to sell anything to you. This is the same in any retail environment, you have no right to buy as the retailer can just say they dont want to sell, this includes mis-priced goods or mis-labelled items.

Even if you have signed an agreememt you will probably find that in the small print somewhere that they, the dealer, can walk away with no penalty.

All you can do I suggest is pressure them, politely, Dont be stroppy or aggressive as it will not work, and will be counter productive.

All else fails, walk away. Tell people of your experience and dont use them again.

At law you have not been supplied with a car to the specification that matches your order. Quote the legal ruling in the case Clegg v Anderson to both the dealer and to Skoda UK. You can Google the case.
