@dobbey,

I will make an English version of my youtube video in a few days, but this is the procedure:

  • Burn the downloaded ISO to a disk at the lowest speed possible
  • Switch on the cars contact
  • Press "Eject+Mic+Setup", this will reboot your device and ask you to insert a SWL CD
  • Insert the burned CD
  • You will see a loading screen, and your device will reboot once more
  • After the reboot you have to press ok
  • after a reboot once more the logo is overwritten

Let me know if it worked.

netdata,

Tried this on my MY12 Superb Columbus system and failed.

Made my own 800x480 png image(size 486 KB ), produced the ISO image using your web site with no problems.

Run through the setup with ignition off until almost the end... I think is was showing a single line of text saying loading SWL. At this point it failed with error message...

Software Loading Error (010306)

Removed CD and system rebooting back to original boot screen. Seems to be fully operational.

Made a new CD with different disk manufacturer. But using the Press "Eject+Mic+Setup" to enter firmware update no longer works.... the screen blanks and remains like this until the "On" switch is pressed, the system switches on normally.

I am therefore unable to try the new CD.

ISO written using Imgburn at 1x speed. CDs verify ok.

Columbus HW Ver 3984, Map Ver 7551.

Can you help ?

Thank you DCC

Cheers :-)

I also gave up, I got one of the logos working, then tried my own one several times and keep getting SWL error on a red box, nice idea though.

Mine seems to have worked fine

Well, what else did you expect me to have? B)

Why is the writing not in gold?

It is Steve - that was just a poor shot in darkness with interior lighting and my mobile phone :(

Ah OK, fair enough. Just thought I'd check :)

netdata,

reference my post #28.... Bootlogo update failure.

Rebooted the Columbus and was then able to try the update again.... it failed.

Downloaded a new ISO image and tried again.... failed with same error.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi DCC,

I had not seen your reply.

Please email the ISO you have used to [email protected]

I will validate if there is something wrong with data inside.

A few extra question for you:

When do you get the error? Normally you will see a small line saying "Searching for SWL image" and quickly followed by "Valid SWL found" and after this step you get a screen where you have to press "ok".

SWL-ok.png

Is it before you get this screen or after you get this screen?

Is it before you get this screen or after you get this screen?

Thank you for your reply.

I would confirm it is after the Screen... OK is selected

PS ISO sent by email.... this is the second of the two ISOs both with the same bootlogo

After many failures tried different computer using Windows XP with LG writer, complete success, now have my own boot image displayed.

Looks like the Columbus is sensitive to DVD data quality.

A BIG thank you to netdata for his free ISO making web site and his assistance in resolving this problem.

I managed to load a photo but get an error (website not available) whenever I try to download the ISO

I used this today. Took a couple of attempts (solely down to user error) :o) but worked a treat and looks properly cool.

Thanks Netdata!
