1.6 MPI or 1.6 FSI this is the question!!!

Featured Replies

Hy!I have a big problem,I want to buy a new Octavia II but i don`t know witch engine is the best choice.

If it were me, I'd go for the MPI at the moment - the FSI is still quite a new engine, and while it has great potential, I'm not convinced it's been on the market long enough for any real problems to become evident. And as it has quite a lot of complex technology on it, fixing any problems would probably be expensive...

1.6MPI is a direct descendant of the VW lump which has been around since the late 70s, so it pretty well tested.

Rob.

Are these new fsi units meant to be a lot more economical?

They are but thing is to work correctly they need a higher RON rating in petrol than we currently have over in the UK, I think 100 RON or something springs to mind so the FSI benefits are usless in the UK.

I think its for that reason Ivan the 1.6 FSi isnt a full FSi unit, more a direct injection petrol.

But id go for the FSi, my mate has one and for a 1.6 they really go well.
