Traction Control

Featured Replies

I've done 6k miles in my vRS now and the only time i've seen this orange light appear is when i toggle it on and off with the button on the dash! I've never really pushed the car to it's limits I guess. My question is; When has it come on for other owners?

I'm curious just how much pushing it takes to appear (but not curious enough to throw it into a hedge!). If there is a good (safish) test I could do I might try it once just to make sure it's actually working.

Never seen it come on in my car ever... except if i press the off button like yourself.

Try doing a rapid start, parked on a large sized, wet manhole or drain cover!!

Standing start on wet surface... Foot to the floor ;)

Oil up to temputure of course

Had mine flash going round the bend and up the slip road on the way home after picking it up. Bone dry too. It comes on if it do a quick getaway too. Wouldn't say I've pushed too hard either. Engine was up to temp btw

Same here, its come up a few times already during first 1500 km... especially when i put the foot down on bad tarmac and when accelerating aggresively inside a corner. I guess you have been very gentle with the car thats all. I dont advise driving like a lunatic but you will find you can push a lot more than you think before you actually bring the car at its limits...

Flashed like med when I took it to an autocross-track :-P

lol... Is it just me that takes it to the limit all the time then? :giggle:

Mine flashes pretty regularly too. :)

On my daily journey I regularly have to stop a traffic lights on an uohill section and make a right hand turn.

If the road is wet I get lots of flashing and I am not being aggressive with the accelerator.

Was on 50% of the time when I went round a very wet Castle Combe track in September.

As my tires have done 17,000 miles now, whenever I accelerate into a corner or out of one with some gusto, it usually comes on.

It does keep things quite nicely in check. I usually keep flawing it then you'll get a small kick about 0.5-1 second later where the tires have regained grip and power is going down again.

Not a great fan of the tcs. Seems a tad useless to me. Only really kicks in in second gear when it kills all powers pulling away. And never lets you accelerate when you want in the bends . Just keep it switched of if im feeling heavy footed.

Mine doesn't kick in all that often, normally when im jumping off the lights pretty quick.

Oh and once when I came around a bend and lost traction due to a water mains leak, light flashed and it gripped on the inside (dry) tyre and pulled me through.

I've had it flashing in 1st, 2nd and 3rd up to now, I get a chirp off the tyres then a flash of the light as a drop of power is felt... I just lift off a little then bury the pedal again to carry on accelerating.

Out on the moor roads round here as you go over the crests of some of the rolling hills it will go on for a good second or so but that's only because the car is airborne and I've not lifted! :giggle:
