dolomite rims damaged

Featured Replies

I remembered this topic when I needed my new winter tyres fitting to my new Dolomite alloys, so yesterday I used Feltham Tyres Heathrow who did a perfect job without a single mark. Peter, the manager who posted above, spotted the Yeti and came over to explain how to fit tyres properly and why the process can damage alloy wheels if not done properly etc. Great service from them, I will definitely use them to fit my tyres in the future.

What I find odd is that alloy wheels are fitted to do many cars nowadays that you would think professional tyre fitters would know how to handle them. Not that I would class Kwik-Fit as professional. Some years ago I was driving a Mondeo ST24 (company car) and got a puncture on the M25. Couldn't shift the wheelnuts for the life of me so called out the RAC. They couldn't do it so towed it to a tyre fitter. They couldn't do it either so took it to Ford garage. They cut off the wheel and fitted a new one. Kwik-Fit fitter had over torqued the bolts!
