I find that if you change the induction kit on most cars the engine tone does change dramatically

However after time the horsepower will decrease again as the oil gets older - was same in GT3

I have found that most cars are quite quiet, although i went into one of the menu's and adjusted the music during racing to '0'. If you look behind you while accelrating you will find you hear the engine quite nicely. The ultimate noise though is the M5 - sounds just like an F1 car !

I was quite disappointed with the sound of the M5 in-car, bit too muffled for my liking, not bad when using the 3person view, don't like that view when racing though, suppose I have been spoiled by the quality of engine, gearbox and exhaust noises emanating from the cars in RBR, GPL and GTR on PC...

Ok so, there have been a few lap times posted...not bad for 2 days since it came out

My best so far is 8.16 with 305bhp Skyline.

Now then, what are the best top speeds so far on the 2 mile straight...

Mine is 166mph in a standard audi RS6. And I didnt just leave skid marks on the track if you know what i mean :pants:

8:35 in golf GTI tuned to 340bhp

managed 161mph on the 2mile straight - i need a racing gearbox on it

Embarassing 9:20 in a ruddy old Honda CRX fitted only with

a suspension and loss of weight ...

This was the first step, having only 10.000 credits...

There is money to be made as well as experience I guess

best speed on the straight was 177 in a M3 just doing some races now to get the CSL

My best is a 6:23 :eek: in an audi RS8 Race Car (only 2 attemps though, in that car anyway), I reckon if I a couple of hours on it, I could get it down to around the 6:00 mark! :eek:

Try the 24hr race, thats a whole different ball game

I'm only 20.2% complete at the minute, another 4.8% to go......

Not tried the F1 car around the ring atm, currently doing the Suzuka 1000km race, done the first 25 laps, god its fast. left he b spec driver to do some as my eyes are hurting..lol.

172 laps so he should be busy for a while yet.

These really long endurance races, can you quit half way through them, or do you have to do them in one sitting? I'm a hardcore gamer but 24hrs..... :eek:

You have to do it in one sitting.

But at pits stops you can change over to your b spec driver, set his pace etc and leave him to it. If hes got alead even on medium pace in a good car he will stretch his lead out. But the PS2 must remain on.

I must be mad, today I went out and bought another PS2 having sold my older large one about 12 months ago. I bought that one to play GT3 on, and now I find that I have a new small PS2 and memory card which will be used to only play GT4. I cant quiet get the knack of the controls yet though, struggling to complete the 1st license but I can do a 9.30 in arcade mode.

I'm going to have to give in and buy a steering wheel as the game seems to be set up for analog controllers and I can't drive on the joysticks on the standard controllers (well I can't drive anyway! ). Played for about 4 hours in total now and have A and B licences and knocked off about half of the races on the beginner events section... just need to raise a bit more dosh now

BTW - this is embaressing but...if anyone can remember early on in this thread i complained i couldnt hear the RUF properly and a few other people said they thought the cars sounded a bit muffled.

Now realised the standard sound setting on GT4 is Stereo and as i was using a TV with one speaker it was all messed up. Changed it to mono and now its perfect, and yes i can hear the RUF not just wind noise and skidding sounds .

Thought i'd mention it as i told a few friends and they had the same problem.

Well, having a wife, dog and house as I do I've still to complete the licence test run of the 'ring' I nearly did it last night but crashed at the end of the long straight (yes, 3 corners from the end) after thinking "hmmm I think this is too fast if there is a corner coming up" .......... I crashed...because there was a corner

Yes it does I've crash too many times with it, it's a beast to keep on the track to be honest. It will top 277 on the speed test :eek: with more room it would do more lol.
