Puddle Under Car after Long Run

Featured Replies

Hi, everyone... I recently pulled into a company car park after a 400 mile run and, when I came back to the car, I noticed that there was a neat puddle of water underneath it (roughly between driver and passenger seat). The water was clear and seemingly pure; it wasn't rain, since it had been dry all the way; coolant level seems fine, so it's not that. The car has behaved itself perfectly in the 800-odd miles since.

I'm assuming that it was condensation from the climate control or something similar, but I suppose it could still be a water leak of some description. It's been nagging me a little, so I thought I'd seek the Wisdom of the Crowd on this one. Any ideas what it's likely to be?

Thanks, all!

Don't panic - it's probably just condensate from the A/C system!

Very common for condensation to pool under a parked car after air con has been used for some time. If u had been using the climate control on the journey then that's what it Is likely to be.

My car does this even after relatively short runs too, can't be a prob cause it's done it for two years nearly!

Always makes my heart skip a beat. I've had every kind of leakage since the 70's and instinctively feared the worst.

Too darn reliable these modern cars.:wonder:

Thanks for the thoughts... confirms my conclusion that it was the climate control. There was no greasiness to the water, no colour, no smell, so I guessed it was probably just condensation. Ah, well, I've another 1000 miles to drive this week, so I'll find out then!.
