Pictures - car / ice / indicators

Featured Replies

Ok, so I was a little bored today, and decided to take a load of photos to bore everyone with :D

Inspired by the recent cleaning thread I gave it a bit of a clean - nothing too involved mind you - and then thought I really should take a few pics just to prove that I do clean it occasionally!

Anyway - first a quick before and after for the front indicators:

One clean(ish) car:

Finally, my "I haven't been looking at max power for ideas, honest" boot install....

(Which needs the cables tidying a little, I know...)

Ice install looks interesting! Bet it makes plenty of noise:speaker:

What does the setup consist of? Also what is the tube with "1.0" on it - looks like some sort of nitrous oxide kit? :D ? :D

Did the same thing with the Philips Silvervisions on mine (front and rear) Gives a much better look to the lamp units and gets rid of the orange reflection you get from certain angles.

Also fitted the Bluevision sidelights which look cool too. Used one in the boot luggage compartment light too! Better than the weedy output of the stock one!

It makes enough noise if you really crank the volume up, although at lower volumes it does the right job of adding a bit of 'thump' to the music without sounding too bad. The Fab is pretty soundproof for bass too, so it's not noticeable outside the car unless it's seriously cranked up (although you can spot the rear window vibrating sometimes...)

The big tube is a capacitor from Maplin (info) - helps to smooth the power going to the amp. Not really necessary in a simple setup like mine, but it was half price...

Apart from that, the little box in the left hand side is a distribution block. Power comes in one side, and then there's 4 output connectors, each of which has a separate fuse for increased safety.

On the right is the amp - bottom of the range (aka 'cheapest') sony x-plod.

The halfords bag you can also see is for pumping the tyres up ;)

Powerbulbs sent me some blue sidelights too - they seem pretty good :-)

Sweet looking install m8. I only got a simple looking 12" with amp setup. Need to uprate the rest of the speakers now. Especially the rears!

I got Diadem indicator bulbs which look almost clear apart from a bluey tinge which looks quite cool front and rear. Got some Philips blue vision ultra bulbs and sidelights at the weekend. WOW. They really do work! Was a bit sceptical, but got the set for 20 quid

Stimps your bulbs look really cool....and thats the biggest capacitor i've ever seen (wouldn't like a shock off that:eek: )

I like pumping up the bass until I get the glass in the wingmirrors shaking. Still have the original speakers, so they're not that good. Also my Kenwood has started skipping CDs - Anyone have a cleaning kit they can bring along to the NEC Meet? pleeeeease?

I gave JaneC a lift back from town at lunchtime (well, what are brothers for?) and cranked up White Stripes - and we did notice the wing mirrors vibrating nicely :)

Was a complete tart earlier - picked up 3m of blue neon wire from local Halfords for the boot install. Now I think I'll have to rebuild it this weekend (raise the floor, recess components, add some lighting) and then tidy up the wiring (like using the 'correct' earth point...!)

Ho hum - back to Maplins for some more bits and bobs!

Stimps - You're gonna be getting one of those MOTORSPORT sunstrips soon aren't you, and flourescent coloured hubs, etc - and feel the urge to drive up and down and up and down the same stretch of road on Saturday nights... :D

:D Sarky youngster!

Keep on like this and you won't get your sticker! :)

Truth hurts!

nnts - nnts - nnts - nnts ......

Well spotted Jason, he does that already !

What about wiring in some underchassis illumination??

You sure you drive a Fabia and not a Nova???, one last thing do you also get a baseball cap with a 2 ft peak free with the gear?

Soz m8 but couldnt resist. Personally I prefer subtle rather than in your face...but each to his own

Cheers

No offence intended of course, Stimps. I just find it quite amusing thats all. There's someone local'ish to myself who has spent something in the region of

Ha! - says the man with the sub and the 17" wheels! :D

I know what you mean though - I don't want to end up like a novaBoy™ - I am (seriously) going for a subtle look!

The Novas around my way are looking decidedly rough now , held together by filler and underseal , with loadsa rot on the arches and front/rear valances! Not seen a really clean one for a long time , and now the early Corsas (which the older N.B's traded up to a few years back!) are starting to get a bit rough! Most of the nicer boy racer cars are now Saxos (tho mostly VTRs , only the 'exclusive' Boy Racers have the VTS!) some are actually pretty low-key , my mate has a nice VTS with lowering springs , bigger wheels and a Magnex full system , no extra 'ahem' styling at all!
