Average age of vrs owners?

Featured Replies

I have always been a fan of the "Gull" yellow 850's. It was the BTCC that raised my interest in Volvo's. As such I have owned six of them.

The current T5-R:

The Skoda I have to say doesnt even come close to the build quality of the Volvo despite the huge age difference and neither is it as quick, both have their own merrits though.

At present I am preparing a BTCC Volvo Race replica.

Interesting you mension cheaper insurance, my T5-R too is cheaper than the vRS despite being a higher category, bigger engine and more bhp?

Very nice (also in the best colour

I'll look forward to a build thread?

37 and had the vRS a few months - insurance with 0 NCB is £550.

Also another V70 owner (sadly not a V70R) and just sold a Saab 9-3 as I didnt need 3 cars.

It's nice to see a lot of Volvo owners on here - just shows how diverse the forum is.

I actually had the vRS MOTd today in my local friendly Volvo specialist. Was half tempted to come home with a fun looking C70 as well ;)

My V70 (classic) is prob the best all round car Ive owned.

Bought mine new on a 54 plate when i was 37. 113,000 miles later I'm 44 and still have it. insurance is around £500 but that with 21000 miles annually and business use.

36 in a weeks time.

Insurance is £440 with Brentacre on a modified policy, full ncb plus limited mileage 3k a year, I cycle to work plus use the bike in place of the car which helps, I was with Swinton @ £790 a year, crazy that a modified policy is so much cheaper.

Only reason for buying it was for the budget I had it seemed and indeed it does offer a lot.

I was 21 when i bought mine, now i'm 22. :)

Im 24 and have had mine since august, I wouldn't swap it for the world, £1300 insurance, 6 yrs ncb, clean licence. - HMMPPHHH! Worth it though!! Im gunna stick with octy vrs's 2.0 fsi or 2.0tdi next?

Bought my first silver mk1 vrs tax free on a posting to Germany when I was 29 ( LJO5 ### if anyone knows of it's whereabouts, sold to someone in Southampton in 2006) Came back from Germany end of last year in a 60 plate s-max, sold that and bought another mk1 vrs (magic black) june this year 02 plate with 58,800 on the clock and i'm now 36. Insurance is £520 fully comp with no NCB as my full NCB is on my other car. Never selling this one!!!!!! :)

37 year old had the vrs for 7 years from new had brakes and discs all round a few coil packs and 1 new abs sensor other than that never had a problem

I am 44 now(blimey don't believe it myself)

Had VRS for over 4 years now. Only car I have had for that long and I have had 48 cars in the past including 3 scoobys.

When I come to replace mine it will be for a S4 2.7 bi turbo(older style) as I would really want 4 wheel drive again.

There is a lot more cars out there these days that are as good as the VRS, but i still feel attached to mine..

I'm 20 and bought the RS when I was 19 .. £3000 to insure back then haha

I am paying £360 fully comp and protected these days so it does get better...

hiya bowders, your is obviously modified so can i ask who you are insured with?

imo (i'm pretty good at finding insurers being young and living in an area which is usually on fire) the best for modified vehicles are brentacre and Sky Insurance, both are brokers and with the modified cars usually go through highway which I think is an offshoot of LV? (correct me if I'm wrong, looks like that same style font) might be worth going to highway first.

Note though, brentacre and sky will require you to have typically a clean license with some NCB.

I bought my Octavia vRS when I was 26 in 2004. My insurance was around £400 fully comp with all mods declared  then moved to the area I live in now and it went up by over £400 & I refused to pay that amount of money for insurance so sold it
