I do almost all my own work.....just that I like to spend on top quality parts.....£400 total on all new bulbs inc interior LED replacements.......just go around and add it all up......

3 pairs of Phillips 100% brighter on the front. 2 x H7 @£35 each, 2 pairs of H3 @£25pair (Osram)....=£120

2 pairs of Phillips silver look indicators £13 pair = £26

1 pair Phillips festoon? LED light for rear licence plate (@£20 each single) = £40

1 pair Phillips W5W LED for front interior (@£35 each pair) = £35

1 pair Phillips festoon LED (one for front one for boot) (@£20 each single) = £40

Total of that lot = £261....but I think he has Xenons....so the fronts will be even more expensive!!! :S

I think Luke is probably including his dash LED changes to Blue too, in the £400??

Which i'd love if i had the spare cash !

But i dont.

So i'll just slag him off in the meantime instead ;)

:giggle:

If you wanted your Fabia plastered or a chimney putting on it

then I'm your man.

Funny you should say that. I've heard Luke's next mod is gonna be a nice brick built double chimney (in black of course)! You could be just the man for the job. Cheque book out again Luke!

I'll get me trowel out then... LOL

Never mind all that ****, how the fudge can you spend £400 on bulbs is what I want to know lol (do they perform a sex act upon you for that much)

It's easy...

£80 for decent HID's

£20 on numberplate bulbs (went through sooo many sets of cheap £5 bulbs before i took the plunge and spent out on a decent set)

£150 on having green dash lighting changed to blue

£40 for those super skoda door LED things

Indicator bulbs are those ORSAM or whatever they are, £15 a set (£30 total)

Got the boot bulb from superskoda too, was £30 I think

Various leds for the glovebox, interior lighting, etc...

It adds up but has been done over the last year

Flame me for it if you want but when I get in my car I much prefer it than a yellow dull lighting, the bulbs are one of my favourite mods tbh

Bloody hell, they saw you coming! For the price of your numberplate lights I got LED bulbs for every bulb in the car (bar dash and plates), including 6000k bulb for my dipped HIDs.

Haha a bitch thread, best thing I've heard all day.

Some people need to chill the hell out

I didn't say that I had bought these.....I just looked up the prices on the web......and yes I know that you can get chepo non branded LED/bulbs etc......but when I buy bulbs etc I prefer to by from either Osram or Phillips....much better made etc! B)

all this money?? he's pretty much out the cost of a turbo and the mapping? and the turbo can be sold on

The point its been mapped god knows how many times, plus the turbo, the intercooler, this oil cooler etc... I know these can be sold on, but still. You ironed out all the problems at unit 18, now you want to have a 1.8T

I wasn't having a dig, I think its cool as it is.

As for the brain comment. Lol, £400 on bulbs...

Oil cooler can be used on the 1.8T and so can the intercooler (with modified piping).

It was mapped 3 times, but I only paid for the original map...

Thanks for this this thread. I was bored in work and now i have had a good laugh.

Jezz if they moan at you for your progress thread about your car and all your work you have done on it (which I love by the way, your car made me want a vRS) then they will be ripping me to pieces for the progress thread's I did on my old Mini it had 5 rebuilds in 3 year's with 4 paint job's and 3 different engines.....

Are you stupid? It's taken me a year to get to this stage doing it bit-by-bit. Go through my project thread and you will see that I've upgraded each part of the car as and when it needs it based on my own opinion of what would improve the car. Sure I asked suggestions on what intercooler to go for and so on, are you really criticising researching a product before purchasing it?

Erm, I didn't start any of this... The point I was making is he said plenty of cars of the same spec, probably implying hybrid turbo running 220bhp+. It may be as fast but all the comparisons I've seen so far are running on £300 coilovers, no LSD, 312mm brakes, etc... There's very few Fabia's that are of a higher spec, I can only think of a few... and that's not me bragging as anyone who knows me will know I think my car is a piece of **** and I'm never happy with it, I'm just stating a fact, regardless whether I owned the car in question or not.

Not yet. It's being powder coated. :)

My point is why jump on me and criticise my car/myself when you have nothing better?

Yeah a year to literally change nearly every part on the car. Fair enough you want to do that which i have no objection to and would be doing if i could, but its the way you go about this that pee's people off.

My only quible is the way you have to broadcast the money you spend on your car as you seem to see it all as a competition, and as jase rightly says, its clearly not a competition to anyone else than yourself. it seems like you rocked up a year ago, asked what all the best parts were for the car and went out and bought them in an attempt to outdo everyone else. All IMO of course though

its clearly not just me who feels this way, there are others on this forum and others

Anyway as i said this is all IMO so thats all :)

check my new avatar...

kinda tickled me a bit :giggle:

I want it for myself, hence doing like 7 track days this year, doing 25,000 miles (non-commuting), etc... I love driving my car, it's not trying to out do anyone else, I'm just not happy with the car and like to keep improving it.

Clearly you can't please everyone, so I'd stop worrying about it personally.

I not flaming, you do what you like it's your car/money

I was just curious, but I see you cheated really as I thought we were talking just boggo type not HID's and dash bulb changes I was at a loss to see were £400 went on boggo bulbs I thought you may have been eating them like that french bloke used to

This is a serious question,

Why buy or keep a car you're that unhappy with, that you have to keep spending so much money on improving it ?

At the end of the day, it's a 5k (or less) car !!

Nothing else within budget will be as quick or fun

Why does it concern you anyway?

Jeez man, I'd never seen the bitchy side of this forum in such depth since this thread. Some people really need to step back a bit and chill the funk out.

Why buy or keep a car you're that unhappy with, that you have to keep spending so much money on improving it ?

By this logic, why put an extension on a house? Why repaint it? If your not happy with it buy a new one. Errm.. No.

Some people (myself included) get rather a lot of enjoyment from tweaking, modding and improving our posessions to fix small little niggles or change things we think can be improved. It's fun to do, and extremely rewarding when you end up with the end product (if there is ever an end ).

Let the haters hate, and please don't feed the trolls. :p

Peace out.

I bet I could find you something as quick, if not quicker and rwd which would be more entertaining :p

I don't want to get into this pointless bickering, I think it's got wary out of hand.

But just wanted to say that's not necessarily true mate. With 6k plus whatever you get for your car (4.5-5.5k depending on spec), you could get a whole host of cars! S3, mark 4 R32, mark 5 Golf GTi, Ibiza/Leon Cupra R, integra/Civic Type R, S2000.

10k+ is a decent budget for a car! All irrelevant of course if you simply want to keep the Fabia.

I bet I could find you something as quick, if not quicker and rwd which would be more entertaining :p

With over 150% torque of a honda S2000 as standard? That can return 60+ mpg? That is £115 tax a year? That I can park as easily on Bristol's narrow streets?

Good luck with that one!

May not be Luke's case but if you buy a car, look after it for ages then want to upgrade but worry about buying a car and weeks later realising you've bought a shed and wish you modded your first car you'd be gutted.

May just me a mk1 Fabia fan too.

Many who sell their fabias say they muss it and their replacement 'sports' car is half the fun.

The parcel force guy asked me recently if the black fabia was mine too as he was thinking about trading his polo 6N for one !

I agree there is alot of jealousy on this thread which is down to the fact the amount of money that has been spent, but really... who gives a **** ? his car, his money and everyone knows when modifying a car you don't get the money back you've spent !

My brother has spent approx 15k on a vauxhall LET engine for his nova and in his exact words "I know I won't get the money back but I've had a lot of fun building the engine" and in the same situation as this there is alot of jealous people on the car forums !!!
