Waiting Times Coming Down?

Featured Replies

Since deciding a Yeti was to be my next car, I haven’t failed to notice the long delivery times some owners have had to endure.

I ordered on 18th August an Elegance 170 with heated front screen, rough road pack and factory tow bar prep.

Dealer said expect 6 months wait.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up some 16” wheels from the dealer in anticipation of some late winter fun. Dealer said your Yeti may be here sooner, they are coming through faster now.

To day I was informed it was built and had been at the docks since the 17th awaiting the next ship.

Less than two months from order to being built, is this a record!!!

John

Incredible, spoke to someone at SUK just today, they informed that recently build weeks were slipping back for the UK.

Are you in the UK because that seems exceptionally quick, good for you.

I ordered 170hp in May, told today wk45 so December collection for me at the earliest.

My 170 with sunroof, spare wheel, heated screen and upgraded alloys was ordered in May ... it is now due to be built in January and will be here in time for a towbar to be added and a couple of other small mods to take place prior to me collecting it on 1 March. It would be ready for collection before then but I have chosen to wait for the new reg on the first of March (despite having a cherished plate!).

The build date has gone back and forward quite a bit but is now set in stone (I hope!).

I didn't want it until 1 March so it has worked out fine for me.

Yes I'm in the UK. Lancashire.

A friend ordered a Yeti Greenline back in May or June from a different dealer and that is supposed to be built week 42/43.

I'm wondering if my dealer had an unallocated order already in the system and the specs altered to what I wanted before it turned status 20?

still can't believe it could be on the drive in 3 weeks.

John

Great news for you, perhaps as you say, the dealer had one up his sleeve.

Mine can't come quick enough as I sold my X5 today and will have to share wifes Golf until it arrives.

Build dates are only confined for def , code20, two weeks before build. Up until that point nothing is confirmed and can come forwards and back and even disappear.

How have you managed to delay hand over till the new plate?

I was told by three dealers I had to take delivery within a set period of time, 14 days I think it was, once it had been delivered to the dealer and had PDI.

I asked about this as originally my order could have been ready just before the new plate in March and I would have preferred to wait the extra time for the March plate. As it is the car is going to be here very shortly so not an issue now.

My wife nearly had to take delivery of her new Ford Ka two weeks before a new plate change because Ford Motors UK insisted on it. The supplying dealer persuaded Ford to back down.

Lucky you!

A lot of people ordering 170's will wait as many months as you have weeks.

Enjoy the car when it arrives.

Well the sun must be shining on me for a change as we ordered ours at the end of August and are picking it up this week. Its a Pacific Blue SE140TDi with few options so I don't know if its specific models that are coming faster.

At least its not an Evoque. I was in the factory at Halewood the other day and production is stopping as the dashboard supplier has had a fire and the buffer stock has run out. Seems short sighted to me. Just in time is OK but to have one supplier is asking for trouble. All comes down to money.

We were expecting around Feb/March next year and I think the dealer is as astounded as we are.

Have to get some snow tyres sorted now as I'm a firm convert to them after using them on our Mazda Bongo 4wd last year and not getting stuck once. Parked the Octavia and the Fabia Vrs up and went everywhere in the Bongo. Hope the Yeti will be as good.

Amazingly quick delivery times.

I ordered a 170 Elegance on 10th Feb. this year and my delivery status changed today to

Status: Arrived at UK Port

Still not holding my breath...

Well, after reading this it appears I'm bottom of the list!:S

I was quite amazed today because I got notification through the Lease Company that my ETA has changed from 12/04/12 to 29/01/12 due to an 'Earlier Build' - maybe they are planning a run on Green / Gobi? Fingers crossed but not in too much hope of getting it any time soon...

My dealer has sorted it! Apparantly because there are no offers on it then Skoda are not so pedantic about it. However he has spoken to Skoda who have agreed anyway.

ordered my 170 with sunroof park assist plus a few other things on april 2nd, build week now 201207 . it went from week 47 49 51 01 .

6 months went by fairly quick but not looking forward to another 4 maybe 6 months.

chris.

I can add my tale of (im)patience here.

Ordered a SE TDi 140 4x4 with minimal options (auto lights/wipers/mirror, lumbar support, towbar prep) on 6 August. Last I heard it has a build date week 48, so not expecting to see it this year. The car it is replacing was taken back by the lease company today, leaving us with only one car; my wife and I both work in places far flung from public transport and the kids go to nursery every day. To say I am praying for an earlier build date is an understatement!

Just to say, I pick up my new car next Wednesday 26th October 2011 (having ordered on 10th February 2011). Registration number will be xx61ODR (oh dear!). So next day it will be changed to my private plate which is a 12 reg. hopefully the first in the UK(!) which will read xx12xxx. I bet someone can work out what the last 3 x's actually are?

From my experience you can't actually put a newer plate on your car... I came across this with my personal reg when I was looking to put it on an E30 M3 but it was a K and unsurprisingly the reg was M3 xxx - couldn't use it...

If you have a reg number of **12 *** then you can't use it until after 1st March 2012, and it cannot be fitted to a vehicle that was registered before that date.

I suggest you check with DVLA.

Anyway back to waiting times coming down - mine is currently hanging around the 34 week mark to build date!!!! emoticon-0106-crying.gif

I was informed by SUK that 4WD Yetis in general have the greatest waiting times at the moment.

Come on now, all of you Use your imagination. It will go in my car on 27th October 2011...

The DVLA will accept it. So what are last three digits? The first two are my initials. Clue?

... and I';ve already been using it on various vehicles for the last 20+ years.

Picked the new Yeti up this morning.

Ordered 28th August so perhaps this a record for a quick delivery after reading some of the posts on here.

No one seem to know why it has come so quickly, original provisional delivery was the end of February.

Anyway, done about 160 miles so far and very impressed. Much quieter than my 09 2.0TDI Octavia Elegance Estate and given that the engine is brand new I reckon it it will go as well as the Fabia Vrs and currently showing 47.2average mpg. Not been thrashing it obviously but this includes some 70mph motorway and trips over the Peak District hills to see our son in Warrington so can't complain at that.

The handling is excellent, I was expecting a lot more body roll but it seems well contained.

Very happy chappy at present.

Probably it was for someone else. :D

Keep your head down in case they come looking.

It looks like waiting times for petrol models have all but disappeared! I was quoted 8 weeks by SUK from order to delivery for 1.2 TSi DSG Elegance with a number of options. Too soon so have delayed placing order!

  • 2 weeks later...

Well - it seems that times are up and down - I originally had a 12/04/12 delivery then it was 29/01/12 but now it's back to 12/03/12... the reason given was something about a change in build schedule :wonder: - hopefully it will swing back the other way and come sooner... we shall see.

My yeti arrived at the dealers last Monday (31st October) and was ordered on 18th August.

170 Elegance with Rough Road Pack, Tow Bar Prep and Heated Front Screen.

Not as quick a delivery as briwy’s yeti, but still very good as I was not expecting it till next February.

Only problem is I have been too busy to pick it up so far. Going to take a day off next Monday and pick it up in the morning and then get tow bar fitted in afternoon. Back seats coming out and 16” Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S (G012) going on.

This yeti is going to work.

I hope I don’t miss my Nissan Terrano SWB too much, I won’t miss its fuel consumption, but I know there will times when I want that low ratio box back.

I’ll probably have a bigger grin on my face driving it to my work sites though, and I’ll definitely get there a lot quicker.
