Mini Cumbrian Run 2011 - Dates/Locations TBC

Featured Replies

So me and Captain Scarlet have been having talks about a Mini Cumbrian Run one weekend in the not so distant future...

This will commence at a meeting place which is still to be confirmed and head out into the countryside, possibly over Hartside (Alston) where we will all stop off for lunch. B)

We are looking for numbers to see who will be interested and we will then get a convenient weekend organised soon.

So if you are game, get your name on the list and bring your friends! :)

So far, as follows:

Great to see a couple of you up for this! Hopefully if we can get more on board and the 5th Nov is an efficient day for everyone then we're rolling! B)

Update

Unfortunately Captain Scarlet cannot make the 5th, therefore the meet will still be open for discussion on what is best for everyone.

Thanks

Clashes with the NorthWest Meet @ Stretton

Clashes with the NorthWest Meet @ Stretton

This during the day, Stretton in the evening

Yes but not everybody has unlimited funds...

strettons too far for me...

I may be able to do a different weekend, but I only get 1 in 5 off, but I'll try,.##

others suggest dates!

Thats fair enough Sharky :)

I'm in the middle of both and would ideally like to attend both...

I'm fairly open on dates other than the 6th and WSM weekend.

Right i'm just going to throw these dates in the hat... Sat 19th / Sun 20th ???

This would give grace to those attending Stretton who are wanting to attend this meet so they ain't having to spend a fortune on fuel in a short space of time.

Any thoughts?

Idea for the locations of the meet, as follows:

Meet somewhere convenient (For example, Cockermouth, Keswick, etc).

Head Southbound down the A595 passing Workington and Whitehaven through Eskdale and head over Hardknott Pass and Wrynose Pass, stopping off here and there for photos, banter and food. B)

If people want, we could then stop off in Little Langdale and go explore Cathedral Cave, get photos, etc... It's just an idea as it's on the route we'd be taking but we don't have to mess around in Caves! :D

Then, continue heading towards Ambleside, where we will head over Kirkstone Pass, with a choice of going via the shortcut from Ambleside to the junction by Kirkstone Pass Inn or head down the A591 towards Windermere where we would head off up over Kirkstone Pass via Troutbeck on the A592 where we would continue towards Ullswater.

Depending on whether people are up for camping (Yes, possibly making this a 2 day event!), then we could stop over at the Waterside House Campsite in Ullswater before continuing our journey towards Penrith on the A66 to the roundabout after the M6 where we would head towards Alston on the A686 where would stop over at the Hartside Top Cafe.

How's this for an meet?

Note: May require up to ONE full tank of fuel.

Those who don't brim their tanks, do so at their own risk.:giggle:

Sounds good that Mark

Put me down as interested, but I will probably only be able to do one day. I'll have to swap a shift to get the day off.

my schedule at work doesn't go as far as the 19/20th nov, but they have nowhere to put me on the 12th 13th, so that would mean me being sent to another station, so I'd probably be happy to book one of them off! lol.... if a definate date can be set as soon as possible, it would be appreciated :)

route sounds good, I know the roads well, I assume the road from abmleside you are talking about is the "struggle" ;)

doubt anyone would camp in Nov, but worth a try! lol...

  • Author

Yeah the struggle! ;)

Ah we're all men I'm sure camping in nov won't harm us :p

Checked dates quickly and I'm struggling to find a free date in November at all..grrr, so might be first in December for me. But I'll check better when I get back from work in morning, as hopefully work rota will have been updated.

No problem, keep me updated!

I've just returned from Newcastle... What a nightmare, my alternator belt decided to shred its self whilst over there!!!

Luckily however, we cut the shredded bit off and got the ol' girl home, safe and sound! :-)

UPDATE Alternator belt fixed B)

Would love to join you, but I have plans for weekends from now until December. Working, Wedding (not mine) Holiday and more work! Next time with a bit of luck. :S
