Featured Replies

hi guy right then got superb 2.0 elegance 56 plate when i switch the headlights on they used to move down then back up again or the other way round well they have stopped working i have no alarms come up on dashboard apart from when i go on a long run ie 80 miles it will then come up as light failure all my headlights still work any ideas fanks

My 2.5TDi does that as it has Xenon headlights. As it is, I think it is an MOT failure, so you need it fixed before the MOT is due. There was thread recently about the adjusters seizing up.

Isn't the adjuster next to the drivers side lower arm, remember seeing it when I changed the arms, just take the drivers wheel off and check the movement. Should be easy enough to sort with a bit of wd40 if that's the problem. Just a side note doe anyone else's drivers xenon vibrate when idling?

Cheers

There's a fuse for them, it may be blown, sorry do not remember which one, but I had this failure on my Octy.

Yeah, mine do a little (most noticeable on driver side) if I'm idling in drive (auto tiptronic box) with my foot on the brake. If I shift into park but keep the engine running then the vibration on the lights disappears.

I've seen this mentioned on some Audi forums too - I don't know if it is anything to worry about but most of the posts seemed to say lots of cars with xenons do it.

Found this interesting link - claims that on golf it is because headlight is touching the bumper. Don't know if this applies to Superb...golf vibrating bi-xenon fix

>edit< wow that was the quickest fix ever... one of the torx screws on top was extremely loose (could easily rotate with finger). Highlighted here:

Tightened up, no more wobbly headlight. Yay!!!

Are you sure they used to move when you turned them on? Mine only move if they are turned on immediately after turning on the ignition. If the headlights are turned on when the car is being driven, they just come on without moving up and down...

They moves if you got Xenon headlights, and they are supposed to do so when starting. Its a selfcalibration procedure.

If they do not move anymore, it is most likely one of the level sensors that is faulty. There is one on the front axle and one on the rear. If the sensor gets faulty or also often the plastic arm going from axle to sensor breaks, the response from the headlight controller is that the headlights do not move anymore (because it does not know the level anymore).

Find the sensors and check that they are still connected to the axles. If so, connect VCDS or other diagnostic's and see whats wrong.

After you have corrected whatever whats wrong, the controller will need to be alligned with diagnostic tool (many workshops are not aware of this).

Cheers
