340lbsft++ in the Furby..

Featured Replies

Will the gearbox and chassis take this much?

Assuming the clutch has been uprated to the Sachs clutch kit which can take up to 370lbsft - what does everyone think?

Just wondered what the gearbox is rated at and any other problems you might get with this much torque.

I think the clutch is the weakpoint, so with new clutch and (I assume) Hybrid Turbo, I believe the standard 6 speed box will take this amount of torque. (after all mine takes 280lb/ft OK, a full 100lb/ft over standard, so I should think as the vRS has 230ish lb/ft as standard, it'll cope with 340ish ;))

Mike @ Jabba believes that the box should be able to take up to 400lb/ft! Apparently it is pretty bullet-proof, and much stronger than the 5 speed.

You getting restless are you Matt? 190bhp not enough??? :D

Just curious at the moment. :D

Was also thinking along the lines of engine mount problems..

400?

lol

 @ Josh's post. Now why is that? ;)

I must admit I thought an engine mount had gone on mine at one point but luckily (for me and my wallet) it was just the airbox vibrating on the strut brace. :)

so i take it josh has previous problems with mounts?

>goes off to search posts..

>saves Matt a little bit of trouble ;)

oh, the thread about the engine mount seems to have vanished.

Found a thread on the problem on SCnet.

Here

seems a problem whether modded or not.

Yep it has - wonders about safety recall ?!

IIRC are they not designed to shear away in the event of a heavy frontal impact?

I know thats no excuse for them to shear away on day to day driving

Skoda have *apparently* only ever sold one of the drivers-side engine mounts before...

Wonder if Seat say the same.

Does Tony Blair work for Skoda?:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Wonder if Seat say the same.

 You read the same SCN thread as me right? ;)

I think they have a whole production line devoted to it. :D

Although having said that Josh's case was a one-off and I've not heard of another engine mount breaking like that, in ANY other Skoda at all. (from memory) Hopefully the Seat little cluster of mount snappings is only limited too. :)

Faboka RS had one go.... think fab16v had one go too

Yep I've had one go. one of the bolts got bored and decided it had enough and done a runner. New mount was fitted under warrenty.

Hmm. Interesting thread. Thanks for asking, Matt. I'll pass on the information to someone I know who's very interested but wishes to stay anonymous :)

HI

The 02m 6 speed triple shaft gearbox is very strong

most of the internals are the same as the 450 bhp / 450 ftlb Audi RS's

but nothing is impossible to break if you are brutal enough !!!!

one week spot is on the selector forks !!

so not to much rasting at that gear leaver !!!!!

hope this helps

That's good to know

So theoretically, you can have 400bhp as long as you treat the stick like an angel :D

i'd say abuse it still at 400bhp if another very similar box is fitted to an RS4
