yeah, yeah, yeah ... but all I wanted to know was whether anybody else thinks it rides better with a bit of load on board. Typical Yeti thread, nobody sticks to the point :giggle:

No problem, Grayson.

I've argued with the greenie anti-4x4 lobby in the past, who thought my Freelander was killing the planet!

I will take you up on one part though, and that is the section in red above.

Comparing the kerb weights of the 110 diesel shows thus:

2wd : 1415kg

4x4 : 1525kg

and a 140 4x4 1530kg

Not exactly "several hundred kilo's" is it?

I would also suggest that the 4x4 actually handles slightly better than the straight front wheel drive especially when wet.

And since I'm still getting top 40's mpg I can't complain. :giggle:

Guess you are right when it comes to Yetis but as I drive Colin Chapman's finest as well I am acutely concious of the effect weight has on any car. And 100kilos is still a fair chunk to accelerate, brake etc. But compared to the uber 4wds - Q7 anybody ?- Yetis are featherweights.

Ithink we concluded early on that none of us can tell the difference and then it just made sense to have a bit of 4x4 driver baiting ;-)

My reasons for buying the yeti were actually to down size from aa big 2.0 estate to something small and yet which could cope with the odd trip over to NI loaded with family gear. We also have friends who stay up in the hills at the end of 2 miles of unmade farm track. The Octavia used to scrape along the ground alarmingly.

The 1.2 seemed just too good to be true so the only real consideration I had was 1.2 or 1.4. The 4x4 option was never considered as it was extras cash up front, and extra tax, extra insurance etc etc etc.

Oh I'm all for the banter and repartee ... but we'll get told off you know! :D

I personally think it is more planted when its pack of people and their luggages, however being a 1.2 it runs fine but mpg does drop by quite a bit.

I think model specific specific banter is best kept in the model specific sections. The only other suitable place to goad a 4x4 owner would be in the Octavia section and hope a Scout or 4x4 owner spotted it :giggle:
