Knocking when clutch depressed

Featured Replies

Just wondering what the symptoms are if your front wishbone bushes are gone? Console ones I think they are.

Was looking at a car over the weekend and the guy said the passenger side one was gone and sure enough when I looked it was pretty worn.

He said that was what the knocking was when you depress the clutch. That true or is it something more sinister?

Cheers

He's having a laugh. Wishbone bushes in no way effect clutch operation. So it could be clutch release bearing, or dual mass flywheel about to fail. Both are gearbox out jobs and not cheap due to time involved.

Tell him to get console bushes fixed, and then if/when it's still knocking tell him to sort that too :p otherwise it sounds like you need to avoid it, as MoggyTech's advice is normally spot on!

Cheers guys will do that. Clutch operation was fine it drove perfect so thats what made me think that it was just the wishbone bushing gone.

Nope probs dual mass flywheel! Common fault

Not cheap to fix either

So id only be interested if the price is right
