Alarm LED

Featured Replies

hello all

my alarm led doesn't work i do have a intermittent problem with the micro switch in the drivers door but it does lock fine on the remote just it doesn't always trigger the dash light the interior light or puddle light. would this effect the alarm led? I've had a read on here but can't seem to find the answer. also are the mk4 golf door mechs the same as the octavia? i had the same problem on my old mk4 golf and got a second hand lock just never fitted it so was going to take it to bits check it all then fit to the octavia if its the same and will solve my problem

many thanks

chris

Yep, it would affect the LED.

The LED is not there to show the alarm, but to show that all the doors are deadlocked, and with the lock being dodgy, it thinks a door isn't lcoked, so doesn't flash the LED.

The vRS doesn't have an alarm as standard, unless it was fitted by the dealer or aftermarket. Has a thatcham immobiliser though.

Mine did the same - Got a new lock and it's fixed it.

iirc the golf mechanism is very similar but different somehow - Maybe a mounting point is different, but I can't really remember.

Correct, there is no alarm fitted to the MK1 Octy vRS at all when they left the factory. When I got my first one I had an aftermarket one fitted,

think ill get one fitted now can you have them still use the standard key remote and deadlocks?

You can get them that piggy back off the original key, but the sigma one my old vRS used a separate fob.
