Sold my MKI vRS during the week.

Booked a test drive in a year-old MKII vRS tomorrow - it's the colour I want (red) with 10k on the clock - price has been reduced from £13.5k to £13k - ideally would like to pay no more than £12k - it would be a straight cash transaction - am I being realistic? It's for sale at a Skoda dealership.

It depends on how much the dealer wants it gone :giggle:

Doesnt seem like a crazy offer to me though

Bit too expensive. I'd haggle closer to 12k. Autotrader has some good examples at 13k with 5-7k miles on them in red. If yours has loads of extras then fair enough.

Cheers - don't exactly think they've been fighting buyers off - don't think many dealers are in the current climate! Will play it cool and say I'm interested in a couple of other motors - which is true - also got my eye on an Abarth 500 but Fabia is heavy favourite.

I'm sure I have seen one or two on the Skoda Used Car site for £11995... doesn't sound that rediculous to me...

12 K seems about right from this corner. Does it have many FF extras ?

Good luck

No - appears to have no extras. Unrealistic to offer under £12k but don't want to pay more than 12 - £12.25k max. - pretty sure they'll deal. If they don't I'm sure there'll be others.

Also depends on how I get on with the auto box - I'm a luddite who's only ever driven manuals.

I think once you've driven a DGS you won't go back to a Manual..... Just my opinion

My next Octavia WILL be a DGS emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Loving DSG. Use full auto for the dull drive to work then the paddles for the blast home emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

if you can get a tidy abarth 500 with the essesse pack you will NOT regret it.... all i can say is they are awesome!!!

but a red basic spec vRS will keep you grinning... but they have such different characters...

for me if i didn't do the miles(25k a year) i would have the 500 essesse in a heartbeat.

but the fabia is a larger more refined car and tackles big miles better(until that very good DSG goes wrong, which it probably will)

I'd love an Esseesse but the premium you pay for an extra 23bhp seems hard to justify. In day-to-day motoring would you really notice the difference?

Edited to add: In a car the weighs just over 1000kg you possibly would :p .

I'd say a little too expensive. In comparison I got mine in rallye green, 6 months old, 4300 miles for £13995 which when you consider some stuff on AutoTrader at the mo, was a pretty good deal. I also have some extras so the OTR price was pushing £18k.

After much haggling I did the deal - couldn't quite get them down to £12k but it was the colour I wanted - wasn't going to pass it up for the sake of a couple of hundred quid. It has cruise control and parking sensors - pretty sure it has a couple of other factory-fitted extras but can't remember what they are! It has climate control as well - is that standard?

I loved my MKI vRS but I have to admit the MKII is a much nicer place to sit.

Pick it up next Friday - pics next weekend.

Only got 11k P/X for my vrs white with black wheels black roof 2.5k 60 plate no chips or marks on it what so ever. so would think 13k is a little high, but don't seem many used ones about and a long waiting list for a new one.

Cheers - I must admit I was taken with it the second I walked into the showroom - wanted a red MKI vRS but ended up with silver (which I thought actually suited the car - also best for hiding marks) - was determined to get red this time round :p .

I was the only person there this afternoon - wee me v three salesmen :giggle: .

Here's a pic nicked from the dealer's site -

Picking it up on Friday (crossed fingers and touching wood) - factory-fitted extras are cruise control, climate control, rear parking sensors, and Bluetooth (£965 worth according to my arithmetic).

Great Job. Plus you have dark chrome alloys by the look of it, which is another £ 110 option.

Only bad note is you should have had Silver, its slightly faster than red... :giggle::giggle:

Keep us posted how the pick up went.

I thought they were the standard alloys - good to know - cheers!

Another garage has a silver one with black roof - looks good but after two silver cars I needed a change.
