Octavia towbars

Featured Replies

Well hello Octavia section! I'm newhere, having just crossed over from the Felicia owner's club...sadly. But also not sadly, because now I have an Octavia, and it's all Skoda goodness!

Anyway, my question is this - will the towbar from my old 2000 felicia diesel estate fit onto my new 2003 octavia diesel estate (ambiente).

If not, which towbar do I need and any ideas where to get one from, or should I just let a grage deal with it?

Many thanks!

I dunno if it will fit, unlikely I suspect though. The Octy (estate, and I guess hatch) towbars have arms which run down from the back of the car towards the wheel arches, and comes complete with a new crash bar.

I bought my bar from ebay and fitted it myself (just required a small nick into the underside of the bumper, and the wiring to be crimped into the existing loom (I connected in near to the CD changer in the boot). The fitting process is pretty easy:

- remove black plastic trim from bumper

- remove bumper

- remove old crash bar (6 nuts)

- assemble new crashbar & arms on the ground

- fit arms/crash bar into lots into car.

- do up a few nuts

- cut a nick in underside of the bumper

- thread cable in in car

- put bumper back on

- put trim back on

Welcome to the Octy section :-)
