DMF problems?

DMF....what is DMF?

DMF....what is DMF?

Dual Mass Flywheel. The flywheel is not a solid piece of steel like most cars, it contains a plate with inner weights with springs to dampen vibrations. Sometimes those springs let go and the weights punch a hole in the gearbox bell housing. Was common on early (i.e. 2005) DSG gearboxen. If you like gory pictures google "MKV DMF failure"

I don't know if the superb has the DMF or not...
