Recomended garage in Fife/Scotland for TB replacement?

Featured Replies

Fellows,

I drive 2001 Skoda Fabia TDI100 PD. I am looking for a recommendation for TB and Water pump replacement. Obviously the cost is important. The local Skoda dealer in Dunfermline just quoted me £418.00 plus VAT ouch.... A4Audi in Glasgow will do the same job for £286.00 plus VAT but this is 50 miles away from me (Dunfermline)

Anyone closer who is trusted to do a proper job?

The car is just shy of 100K.

Thanks

Advanced Autos in Edinburgh would get my vote :)

0131 443 7100

They're based at Longstone so 5 mins from Hermi Gate

Used them a few times, so have other members.

Honest guys, just done a big service and a few bits and bobs on mine a few weeks ago.

^^^^ Thanks Johnny, will give them a call in the morning

If thats not suitable then David Mylett (VW Specialist) in thornliebank. It's who I use, and he has show winning VWs in his yard :p

I'm due a service soon so I might give them a go, my car's always been serviced at Chathams in Halbeath. I used to work in Longstone so I'll have a look.

Nice campers.

I had him do a few jobs / MOT on the MKI. Location was a bummer for me, despite living on the south side. After dropping the car off it was either the 45c into town (not exactly a frequent service) or trudging a mile uphill to Patterton station.

I've always been pleased with the service I've had

Off topic - Wee Bri, I haven't seen you about?

Don't think so?

I'll keep an eye out for your car - did you get vRS bumpers for it (just checked your 'topics')?

After calling all the suggestions kindly provided I will go with Gleneagle garage in Dunfermline. They've quoted me £275.00 all in, including VAT and water pump with METAL propellers.

Thanks to all

my brother is a time served seat mechanic and currently works for audi/vw in ayr, he would happily do it as a homer and i bet he could beat £275 easy. can get you a quote from him if you like, pm me if interested, located in kilmarnock scotland

Thank you for you willingness to help with your brother but this is like 140 miles round trip and I will be stuck for at least 5/6 hours siting around. However I would appreciate a quote if you could get one please.

I sure will gentlemen. They have looked after few of my cars in the past (mainly Mercedes) and I never ever had a single issue with them, so fingers crossed. :D
