Range Rover Evoque 4WD starts at £28705.

Freelander 2 4WD S starts at £22705 (although it doesn't come with a lot of kit!)

But if you wanted a 4x4 it would be a better bet surely? I don't entirely get these jacked up 4WD estates...

Perhaps some people don't need the full off-road capability of the Discovery ilk, and more boot room than a Freelander can provide?

I suppose your right actually.

You can get a fully pimped up Yeti for that money too

Although the boot is some 180 litres smaller on the Yeti.

We originally bought my wifes Octy 4x4 for her daily commute across the Cat and Fiddle from Sheffield to Alderley Edge... We needed a bigger car and as it can often be bad weather etc. on the top of the Pennines she wanted a 4x4 for the added all weather stability and security but didn't want a 'jeep' type 4x4...
