Burglar Alarm recommendations

Featured Replies

Hi

I will attempting to install a new alarm system over the next few weeks and wanted to know of any good recommendations re any systems/manufacturers/suppliers.

Given the likelihood of it being a DIY project I fancy the idea of a wireless system and I understand they are more expensive but also more reliable than in years gone by and easier to fit.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

We've got a Yale wireless, no problems, works well :)

I've got two big black dogs which will bark at anyhing loitering outside the house. Tend to feel that even a thief whole can disable an alarm will think twice about a big dog!

Wireless should be much easier and less messy. My inlaws new house has a full wireless system and it is from a good builder so doubt that wireless is just a cheap easy alternative anymore.

ADT will fit you a wireless one for £99.

We have one of those £99 ADT alarms and can say they're BRILLIANT.

Monitoring costs £19.99 a month, but in the event of an 'activation' you're immediately notified, so can respond accordingly.

The subscription also includes a maintenance contract to keep the system 'ticking over'.

It's all professionally installed to, so no errors. :)

Cairn Terrier Rescue will let you rehome a og for a reasonable fee - these dogs will make a lot of noise if property is attacked , and are very possive about their homes .They're low maintenance ,but very possesive ,an very agressive to strangers.

Are you sure about that????

We had a Cairn once and she was the friendliest pet you could imagine, she LOVED people. emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I have a Response wired system. I ran in a lot of the cabling when doing DIY in various rooms.

door sensors, and PIRs on various different circuits (one is the route to the control box), and the rest set of the alarm immediately. ZonesI currently have defined are:

- Doors

- PIR-1 (to access to the alarm box)

- PIR-2 (dining room, living room, etc)

- PIR-3 (kitchen, and thus if an dog was in the house the zone can be disabled)

My husky and collie failed on burglar detection duty. I also have a 8camera cctv system too :o

Crime is on the rise in Weymouth in preparation for the sailing side of the Olympics in 2012!

Thanks for the replies guys, keep em coming.

Kitten and I have a static caravan in poole which we're thinking of letting out for the Weymouth racing during the Olympics, and I won't take less than £15,000 a WEEK, with a £10,000 deposit which may be fully refundable depending on damage. emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

haha, well in that case can I rent out my 6 bedroom house (sleeps 10-11ppl [plus more in sleeping bags!]) out for even more money, 10 minute walk from Weymuff beach

WOOOOO HOOOOO go for it haahaa :D

We have a Cairn Terrier and he barks at everything that comes near to our house -however he is the softest most loving creature you could imagine and wouldn't harm anything. I think that if we were burgled I could imagine them stealing him as well -with him going along willingly, he's also pretty good at thieving stuff himself.

My little Jack is a good security device.

Stick your car keys in his dinner dish then try and take them out. emoticon-0145-shake.gif having said that stick anything in his dish and try and take it out

My parents have two (3 until just recently) of these.

Job done.

They do have to display a warning sign on the

front and rear of their house though, it's to cover them

legally should someone be stupid enough to try and come in and

take things that aren't theirs.

Nothing quite like a pi$$ed rottie to make any sane person think twice. :D

Edit---- Forgot to mention, fully wireless.
