Another misfiring VRS... Again

Featured Replies

My poor fabia is misfiring again, cold warm... What ever the weather.

Doesn't do it if I'm constantly gentle but if I give it anymore than 1/3rd of throttle she starts to misfire every few seconds.

Now this is the second time I've had this, last time I took it in they found that the car was misfiring on Cylinder 1. They swapped the plugs between 1 and 3 and took it for a 50 mile drive and couldnt replicate it.

They suggested it may have been an issue with fuel and I've had no issues for the past few months.

It's going into Capital Skoda tomorrow but would I be correct in assuming if it's Cylinder 1 again it's most likely going to be a coilpack and if it's 3 then a plug?

using 98RON?

Sounds exactly the way they diagnosed my misfire, which was a plug.

The error code is the same for plug or coil pack.

Vpower all the way.

Well the dealer had no car they could give me while they had mine so they told me to call Skoda assist.

So they arrived at home and did a diagnostic and couldn't find a fault so they want me to take the car back to the dealer in the morning and they'll put me in a hire car.

What a damned faf this is turning out to be.

So I've still got the car and I'm considering ragging the hell out of it tonight so maybe the ECU will record some misfiring.

Hey man I'm feeling your pain, and my cars been into Capital Skoda as well once. They did the ECU update but it hasn't fixed the misfire... mine misfires under load say in a higher gear (eg 7) in manual, with foot down on the throttle. It judders like mad.

Also got to ring back up and book in. Did they put you in the 61 plate silver Yeti? :)

I ended up taking it for a long run to magor and back with some pretty spirited driving. Once I was happy that under load it seemed ok I stuck it in sport and worked it really hard.

Not a single judder or misfire... So the threat of going into the dealer seemed to have worked.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it keeps running well :)

Hi there,

My VRS has much the same problem and I was hoping I'd be here reporting a successful fixing of it but unfortunately not yet.

Mine has now been to the dealers. They replaced a coilpack on the cylinder that seemed to be causing the problem. Unfortunately it's still not happy so it's back again next week for a two day stay, when, hopefully, they will fix it!

Thankfully they are picking it up from work and dropping it back again, only way to get it in quickly as no courtesy cars until mid December! Just means I'll have to cycle from and to work but I can cope with that!

Fingers crossed for you man, but mine did this and it soon came back. Just took it out this evening and worked it hard in manual mode, and this is what happened...

I recorded it on my iPhone (should be HD available).

It literally sounds like a bag of nails.

Probably a stupid question, but other than the light on the maxidot, does it feel considerably weaker on the throttle response? I just ask as I've never had my EPC/EML light coming on but I'm wondering If it's possible for it to have occurred and me not realizing it... I don't think so as every time I have pushed it, (and that's at least once every day) I haven't felt something different other than the usual power...
