fabia engine won't start after 1 yr storage

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Hoping someone can help with a 2006 Skoda fabia starting problem.

Background...

Car had been sitting unused for about a year so battery flat. (was working previously) when i drove it into the underground car park for safekeeping.

So anyhow I replaced the battery with a new battery expecting the car to start immediately. However when I turn the key i can hear the car trying to start and the starter motor kicking in, but engine wont start. I have even put the car in gear and turned the key and the car has jumped forward. Tried bump starting the car also to no avail.

So initially i thought this was an immobiliser problem maybe key related. So i then got an rosstech VCDS and done a scan this reported the following...

No faults found

I also looked at some key and immobiliser stuff..

No. Keys programmed. 2

No. Keys matched. 2

Keys match immobiliser: YES

Engine authorised to start: YES

So really at a loss now as electronically the car seems fit.

Is there any quick engine diagnostics i can do. re plugs or fuel injector etc ?

Would appreciate any help at all. Thanks!!

Cheers

J

ok a little update

so new fuel in the tank 25L of it

new fuel fitted.

so before i fitted the fuel filter i attached a plastic jar to the black feed hose that would enter the filter. The idea being if i could flick the switch i could prove the fuel pump is actually pumping.

so done this expecting the container to fill up and nothing!! Fuel pump dead? the electrical supply to the fuel pump is giving 10-12v when the ign is switched on.

Good - nice to know it's fixed...

Funny how things can just stop working like that.
