Nokia Lumia 800

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a Nokia Lumia 800 yet?

If so, what are your thoughts? How does it compare to an iPhone 4S?

I think O2 will be getting them in the next week or so and I'm due an upgrade.

I had a customer round the Studio a few nights ago - she didnt bring her Lumia with her, as at 6:30pm it was flat, from coming off charge on the morning.

She's not impressed with this part of the device!

Slightly better battery than the 4S then? :giggle:

It runs on windows, who won't let any of the manufacturers have a memory card and memory is limited to 16gb (read this somewhere might not be true but no phone running windows have a memory card). The windows software allows for online storage, but once you upload it and you go abroad or you have no signal? Or you're over your data allowance? How do either upload more stuff or more importantly how do you down load it? Once the internal memory is full that's it!

Never tried a windows phone and even if the operating system is amazing (which I've read isn't) it seems abit pointless to own as its so limiting. I'd stick to android phones, even nokia's symbian software on the n8 sounds better! I can't see windows phones having a long future especially the way android, blackberry and the I phone are so popular. Thinking about it I don't know a single person with a windows phone lol

Windows Mobile and Nokia Smartphones are dead in the water.

Nokia are only good now for basic phones or business phones.

Android FTW.

Least nokia is better than the windows phone lol

Recon blackberry is the next one to fall out of fashion, its just not keeping up with everyone. There's 1.2 and 1.5 duel core processors which are starting to be the norm and their answer to the galaxy s11 was a single core 1.2! Only teens using the free BB messenger and die hard business people are keeping them going at the moment. All written using tapatalk on my blackberry lol

Lumina 701 is one i'm looking at, symbian belle :)

Actually the 701 will run Windows Mobile 7.5. and is less powerfull than the 800.

Nokia are I believe now in partnership with Microsoft and will no longer release any Symbian based phones.

I dont find Nokia phones reliable anymore, even their basic phone handsets. My office phone is a newish Nokia, whilst it has good battery life that lasts days it has a number of software issues including one with the bluetooth where it disconnects randomly from my Superb , whereas the phone it replaced was perfect (an older Nokia).

We are I believe getting an 800 in at work for evaluation but not got it yet.

I had read that in early models battery life was very poor but this fixed with a software update a month or so ago.

Reviews seem generally positive and the handset does look nice but maybe I'll sit on my hands for a little while longer.

You can tell you don't know anyone with a single WP7.

There are IIRC 2 WP7 phones with Memory cards, and they can be upgraded (past 16gb too). The problem is, WP7 relies on cards with fast random access times, but thats not something thats published by any card manufacturer, so its very hit and miss, as the wrong card can dramatically effect phone performance.

Windows Phone 7 is a very capable OS, it gets faster every time they update it, its far more stable than my iPhone ever was. All the apps i need are available. Apparently its the 3rd most popular OS for app development (after Android and iOS).

Its a shame really that advertising is almost non-existant, and all the hardware has been seen somewhere else before. Its a shame Microsoft hasn't done a google, and paid someone to make a flagship phone. I keep hoping Nokia will do that, but so far, the new nokia phones have almost no difference to my year old HTC WP7.

After a year, the only thing i miss from my iPhone, is all the accessories (car stereos, docks, etc).

I have seen a 701 prototype running symbian belle.

If it isn't then I'd be looking at one of the lower end phones that do run symbian.

As for the phone kit, a lot of the newer phones have issues due to the change in the BT standard, so it might be that.

I just can't tollerate the poor battery life on the smartphones, which make them useless as a phone for anyone who actually uses their phone for work.

Nokia are advertising the Lumia hard in the cinema at the moment.

It should be pointed out that WP7 is a total ground up write of the OS, there is no recycling of bits from WM Windows Mobile).

I specifically bought a WP7 phone (HTC Trophy 7) because I wanted something which worked and did not have strange little manufacturer quirks or needed rooting / etc. Would I swap it for an Android? Nope. Would I swap for an iPhone, unlikely. Once the apps base grows I think WP7 will be in a good place.

I use my old Nokia e66 for work, it can sync my email from Exchange, so gives me enough info when I am out of the office and not got a laptop with me, and the battery lasts a good few days (as long as I don't leave Endomondo running on it!)

I had a samsung omnia 7 running mango and the only reason I got rid is because I fancied getting an SGS2. The operating system is very slick and I had no issues. It may not have the biggest app market but it has most of the latest apps you find on android or ios. I'm definitely considering getting another come upgrade time in may and think people should try it before writing it off.

the 701 does run symbian belle and the lumia 710 runs windows 7.5 so you looked at the right one. Think the site mannyo posted has got the numbers the wrong way round. http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-701
