BAD NEWS IF YOU'VE ORDERED IVORY LEATHER

Featured Replies

I had a L&K Octavia with light beige carpets. It was a nightmare to keep clean.

My Yeti has Gobi Sand interior but with black carpets and it is much easier to keep clean.

The light interior makes the car feel much brighter.

As you have the sunroof I believe, that will make it feel even brighter.

I live in my Yeti, and find the interior colours just right. I don't look at the carpets when I driving

Did you get a reply from Skoda UK regarding this change?, my car has arrived at the dealers with the black trim and carpets. My dealer was not aware of the change until I mentioned it to him.

They have agreed to change the trim on the B pillar (after my suggestion) to Ivory but I am not sure if aesthetically this will be enough as I am concerned there will be a horizontal line in the car that changes from Ivory to black. I am planning on visiting the car on Tuesday but would appreciate any members comments before then. Unfortunately SkodUKUk are closed untiWednesdayay next week so dealer/myself unable to contact them for responsese.

Hi Hoops65,

I did get a very prompt reply, but they didn't answer all my questions. I will have to write to them again when I've got some further info from the dealer this week. What is clear is that the change is a permanent one and they say it's due to lack of worldwide demand...obviously too many people opting for the black carpet alternative. They have investigated the possibility of a special one-off build for my car with ivory carpet and have ruled that out...to be expected really on a busy production line.

I want to find out this week, when the dealer's parts dept is open again, just how much it would cost to replace the black interior sill & B-pillar trim with ivory parts, then I'll know just what sort of hit I'm expecting them to take. I don't expect the dealer to pay for it and maybe Skoda UK can get recompense from Skoda Auto?

Let me know what your feelings are when you see the car again or if/when you seen it with the trim parts changed from black to ivory. I'd be interested to know your reaction. I'm still not convinced I know what to do abour mine. It's not being built for another 4 weeks so I have a short time to cogitate.

Hi Simon,

I had a look at it this morning, it was not as bad as I was expecting, the dealer has agreed to change the trim around the B Pillar (which will take a couple of weeks to come in), the trim around the doors is staying black as far as I am aware which should be easier to keep clean especially with children getting in and out, but at least when you look across the car you will not get the change in colours. I am picking the car up on Saturday and will post some pics when the trim is changed. To be honest if my car had not been built yet I would have changed to Petrol Blue with the Black interior.

Regards

David

Hi David,

I visited my local dealer yesterday to assess what was needed to change the plastic trim. It's easier than I thought as it is only 2 pieces each side. I posted another letter off to Skoda UK yesterday and really hope that they will pay to have the changes made once my car is at the dealer.

However, assuming your dealer is just going to replace piece for piece, black for ivory, you will get the trim around the doors changed as well. The trim up the B-pillar is one piece that stretches, rearwards, along the rear door sill. The front sill trim is a separate piece stretching into the front footwell. I look forward to seeing some photos, and hope you're happy with the result.

Hi David,

Did you get everything sorted with the change of trim back to ivory. I ended up with sort of a result as Skoda UK have offered to pay for my first service which will mitigate most of the cost of getting the black trim parts replaced. If your car is sorted? Can you post some photos? I'd be very interested to see the result.

Cheers Simon

Off topic, but is petrol blue the same as aqua blue?

If you must have a light coloured floor maybe you could get some custom mats. You could order carpet of any quality or colour you want from your local carpet shop. Take along a set of tailored mats borrowed from your Skoda dealer to use as templates for cutting the exact shapes. Most carpet shops will have contacts with someone who can cut the shapes and overlock the edges to make mats.

My Yeti is Aqua Blue, it is a very pale blue which on a cloudy day can look grey.

I'm not sure, but I think Petrol Blue may be called Lava Blue in some countries.

Spot on :) I actually found that pdf when no one answered :)

Just to sort of finish off this topic, Hoops65 has allowed me to post the photos of his recently delivered car, showing the effect of the change of interior sill (and B-pillar) trim from black back to ivory, now that the ivory interior only comes with black carpet. Why they can't spec it like this in the first place is beyond me. It's only my opinion but I reckon it looks a million times better than the way they currently deliver. I think I'll be sending some of my own photos back to Skoda customer services when I have my own car delivered/changed. I think it is important feedback and they should seriously reconsider what comes out of the factory. Black carpet maybe, but I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a new car again.

Thanks David.

Looks great. My 2010 built car with ivory has the black carpets, B pillars and sills. What's the cost to get the ivory pillars and sills?
