Suzuki ignis sport..should i get one?

Featured Replies

main things i dont like is its feels a bit cheap and plasticky inside and has a small boot and only 3 doors, but i think i can live ith that as most of the time i dont have any rear passengers.

but is it faster than a standard fabia vrs 1.9tdi?

what do u experts think?

Edited by fabia55

It will be more nible, mainly due to the weight advantage.

However it will be slower at accelerating, much slower in gear and have a slower top speed.

Around a track the Fabias straight line speed will be too much of an advantage, so would put in faster lap times at any track.

^^^ +1 however a swift sport is a awesome car if you can afford one in your budget.

not a chance, hence the ignis sport

Alternative is a Yaris Tsport, Civic sport or Starlet/Glanza (1.3T of course). I'd say a lightly modded Yaris ts would possibly keep up with a standard vrs (as I had one).

Ever looked at mx5's?

Whats you budget?

Mines is for sale 2k....

Tbh i think it would be on a par accelerating with a stock vrs

Round the bends its been compared as a baby type r!

Tbh there dirt cheap and bombproof!! Jap you see

I was on a dual carriageway with a 40mph limit (I'm not a speeder so I was sitting at 40) when an Ignis Sport came flying up behind, dangerously close (when I looked in my rear view mirror I thought the Ignis driver was in my back seat) - at that point the road opened up to the national speed limit, so just to put a safe distance between us I went through the cogs - left him for dead, and that was in a standard MKI. 30-80 the Fabia has a LOT more pulling power. The Ignis will be a lot better in the twisties mind :D .

To echo a poster above I'd go for the Yaris T-Sport over the Ignis - I'm not a Jap fan but I like those.

Have a look at mine in non skoda cars on here

I don't fancy driving another yaris again, i know they're good little reliable cars. I don't fancy a civi sport, it would mean i'm definately slower than a type r. and i don't want to be slower cos its a sign of weakness

the ignis sport looks like its got a high centre of gravity (or whatever u call it if u know what i mean)..

anyway, i'm not in a hurry as i like my fabia, but I feel very fustrated sitting behind lorries and tractors all the time..i can't overtake safety in my 1.2 70bhp.

edit: also thinking of a nissan micra sr 160, but the boot is smaller than my fabia.

my requirements are everything my fabia can do but to be able to overtake safety and do that track day once in a decade. I don't mind sacrificing a little bit of practicaility, and must be decent fuel economy. i think the obvious answer is why not go for a fabia vrs but i'm not going to get one for £2.5k with less than 40k miles, and i use to have a mark 1 fabia before so fancy a something different

edit 2: or maybe i should get a fabia vrs...

A car with less than 40k and for £2,500.

Erm, I have no idea then!!

If you have found an Ignis for that then go for it. It will be a fun car and very reliable. Certainly compared to a VRS, these things are a bit of a joke for stuff going wrong.

i'm currently looking at this one.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/suzuki/ignis/postcode/ws112yt/radius/100/maximum-mileage/up_to_40000_miles/sort/priceasc/price-to/3000/engine-size-cars/1-4l_to_1-6l

and this one http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201131407842062/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/3000/maximum-mileage/up_to_40000_miles/engine-size-cars/1-4l_to_1-6l/model/ignis/make/suzuki/radius/200/page/1/postcode/ws112yt?logcode=p

the second one is my first choice if I can get the price down by £100 or £200 at least, but its a long way away from me.

Fabia pd100 remapped?

£100 for the 288mm brakes and a couple hundred for. Coilovers and you pretty much have a vRS only much cheaper.

Did u check my one?

No high centre of gravity as its on 2 grand coilovers

55 plate with 30k miles

Not even got a stonechip

thanks for the suggestion, i'm not a mechanic and fitting them is not going to be cheap though

Hmm.. Probably not going to like this post but here goes..

I would say having a quicker car is certainly less thinking required while overtaking, however with a slower car it doesn't mean it will be more/less dangerous, just depends on the driver. I had the fabia 1.4 8v with an awesome 54bhp, didnt stop me from overtaking 'slower' cars and lorries fairly frequently on the roads I know. Its just knowing how/when to use the power you have. If your interested in extracting the most power out of the car (and be safer on the road) you could look up advance driving courses or videos (ROSPA, AIM, Bespoke Driver training etc).

Ok back to cars - civic vti's. Awesome, but they drink like crazy every-time you Vtec Yo! it :D

Have all original parts excluding wheels but they can be picked up for £100

  • 6 months later...

just sold me 58 suzuki swift sport

awesome car

eats all corners and roundabouts up big time

one of guys on forum had a blue se vrs and spent 32 grand changing everything on his fabia to see if it would handle anywere near his gf's sss

it wouldn't not on corners or a track(see tiff needles leathering review on fifth gear)

mine even had uprated gear box for some reason as standard and higher revs

only thing i did was lower and put carbon induction in miss it but finance had to go and high end petrol also

This is about the Ignis not the Swift...

I can't believe you are comparing it to the vRS.... The fabia is far superior in every aspect apart from as mentioned above the handling. I'd take the Fabia everytime but the Ignis will be much faster than your current 1.2 car.

In gear times for the vRS TDI can be compared with BMW 330i's and Lotus 111R's where the Fabia gets the upper hand, and thats in standard tune for the Skoda.

Ignis 103 lbs of torque

vRS 229 lbs of torque

buy 1 if this is your next job. otherwise NO

Mk1 Fabia is cheap and plasticy on the inside too, remember...

No where near the poor interior of an Ignis though, much better screwed together also. Mine has 135k on the clock with barely any signs of wear and no rattle/squeeks to be heard :)

Still looks cheap and plasticy though!
