How to remove dealer sticker

Featured Replies

I want to remove the dealership sticker on the rear screen but it seems stuck down incredibly well and I don't want to damage the rear screen heater, anyone got any ideas?

A hairdryer has always worked for me in the past.

Get it quite warm all over then pull VERY slowly, diagonally from a corner.

Thanks, I'll give that a go tomorrow.

Warm it with a hair dryer and remove glue residue with a dab of carefully applied white spirit.

When I worked at a used car dealership we used razor blades, cut fingers a few times but it literary took under a minute to remove them. Just had to be careful around the heating elements

This is the method we use when the decals on the work vans need changing

Put a damp cloth in the microwave then hold it on the sticker carefully peeling it off. WD40(Yes!!?) will clean off any sticky residue.

I assume you need to apply some microwave energy to the damp cloth.... :wonder:

I've always told the dealer to take it off. Doing it yourself warm the sticker 1st.(Not so easy in the cold weather) peel off and clean goo off with white spirit or methylated spirit.

+1 for asking the dealer to remove it. You didn't ask them to put it there in the first place and if they damage the car whilst removing it they have to repair it.

I actually asked the dealer if he was going to pay me for driving around advertising their dealership, when he said "no" I said "in that case don't put any dealership stickers on". They got me though, with their number plate surrounds but they soon got changed for some Briski ones

Could be worse. There seemed to be a 'fashion' about 20 years ago for dealers actually gluing a badge with their name on it onto the paintwork of the tailgate! My stepfather until recently had an old L reg Cavalier that still had a 'LeVoi Vauxhall' dealer badge glued on it.

Fortunately no dealers do it now as far as I know. Probably had endless complaints from customers. I would have rejected a new car if it had arrived with one of those things stuck on it!

This is what we do on the exterior of the work vehicles before selling them, but I wouldn't be doing it on my own car where there is a heating element close by.

I've always just warmed them up and then peeled them off.

Was a bit wary of using a razor blade so close to the heating element so went for it with the wife's hair dryer and some white spirit. Came off with no issue and the white spirit cleaned up the sticky residue nice and easily. Looks much better without the tacky white sticker. :D

Then started to **** it down so will put the Briskoda sticker on another time.
