In fairness though, in my opinion, a car that's a year and a half old shouldn't need a new engine!

Don't get me wrong, I have a bit more piece of mind but still don't trust it.

Well, it had to happen in the end!

After 19 months of owning the vRS, having lots of fun and lots of up and down moments I've sold the car. A number of factors contributed to it, not just the oil worry, even though the engine had been changed but I also want to get on the property ladder and needed to free up some cash from the car.

The vRS is still easily one of the best cars I've ever owned, something that put a smile on my face constantly when I drove it! I will be looking for a cheap run around to get me to work and back, not sure how I will get on after having all the power of the Fabia!

Will still keep an eye on the forums where I can, thanks for all the comments in this thread :)

Sorry to hear that but I also did something similar - sold my modified Ibiza fr for a house but now have a new vrs :)

You'll be back in something fun soon enough mate. Did you sell the car as is with all bits?

No mate, sold it more or less standard, did have the H&R springs and RARB left on but CBA to remove them.

It's given me a good chunk to put towards a flat which is great :)

This morning the postie delivered my ELM327…

torque1.jpg

Will be using it alongside the Torque app on my Samsung GS2.

torque2.jpg

Installing it was a doodle, take off the fuse panel.

Find the OBD2 port (how I want to make a joke about finding the pink right now!).

torque5.jpg

And push it in :giggle: .

torque6.jpg

Managed to get it paired with the phone in no time.

First thing was to see if there was any faults on the ECU.

Then checked it was reading correctly.

Seems to work well! Managed to get onto a friends private piece of land for a 0-60 run. It is a little wet out there so wheels span up a little and a slight incline but put this time in :

torque10.jpg

I reckon in the dry on a flat the car will do 0-60 in 5.9-6.0 secs so very happy with that. Was previously recorded at GTI Inters 11' @ 6.58.

Sorry to quote such a large post but what is the light switch next to to OBD port?

DRL turn off.

Turns them off when driving normally but they will still activte when putting the side, or headlights on. As well as flashing the main beam.

Cheers apmaman, i found the DRL thread about 10 mins later lol. I had a play today and opted for them to be on. Sorry for hyjacking the thread.

Been a few months since being on here!

I ended up using my dads Rover 214i to get to work and back, unfortuantely, being an old car I managed to break it after only a couple of weeks! HG, alternator and a few other bits need doing and it's just not worth the repair bill. Decided I need to get something reliable, just not too expensive so I can still have some savings. I ended up buying a Peugeot 207 GT THP (flame suit on!).

Had it for just over a month and very happy with it, apart from needing the timing done and the windscreen changing due to a crack! 150bhp It makes is enough to feed my speed needs and it handles a lot better as standard than the vRS did. I'd like to get it mapped and lowered a little but going to make sure it's running correctly for a while before doing anything!

hehe Hello mate!

Don't get me wrong, with a few tweeks the vRS is much better! Plus the 207 is still a barge in comparison to other hatches!

I really like the wide sunroof... wish the Fabia had such an option.

haha the fabia standard is pants handling wise everyone knows that lol

I got it the first time I paired the device but don't now. Mine has been pretty reliable so far

Because the filter is quite large the hosing won't connect to the OEM feed emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif. Temps seem to be lower if anything emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Thanks emoticon-0100-smile.gif they are Ultra H7 bulbs (about £10 from eBay). They are much white and seem a little brighter than OEM to me

You can still put the ebay link where you bought the ultra h7 bulbs, looks great
