Spent yesterday @ Santa Pod again for RWYB. Been so many times this year that my next trip is FREE  . There was a lot going on (X-Fest & RWYB w/Straightliners) so didn't get as many runs as the usual, only 7 this time.

20120507_124418.jpg

Quickest time of the day was 14.15 @ 97.56 MPH

As you can see a couple of the runs ventured into the 15s, the car played up a little, I think due to getting too hot waiting on grid. I managed to launch off the line ok but the power seemed to cut out and I had to change gear early. Have done over 1,000 miles in the past 3 days so the car really does need a little rest. I checked the car over and ran diagnostic through Torque but it has no error codes stored on the ECU, will keep my eye on it.

When I get chance I will post up the video of my fastest run, apart from the minor power problems towards the end the car seemed happy and found a bit of grip even on the road tyres.

Not much of an update but she has had her weekly bath and also removed the wind deflectors for now and added a sticker for a friends website

  • Glad you got the dash sorted in the end mate Car looks great

14.15 @ 97 is a great time. I'm getting final MPH of 99/100 with the stickys so I can easily see you breaking into 13.9 13.8 times if you got semi slicks.

Your 60ft times are much better than mines as well. I get about 2.5 or so on average. Need to get some practice in! Will be at crail on sunday if the weathers good. Hopefully its not so cold!

Cheers bud, I have done about 60-70 1/4 mile runs in her so far

Ha ha, even now I change something every time I go.

Play about with tyre pressures, the intake pipe, launch settings etc.

Did rerouting the itg pipe to the original scoop make any diffrence? Might do the same if it does and i can find the room todo it

Fastest time was just about identical to how it was before so no real improvement to be honest.

Car is quieter now though, be advised if you do route to the slam panel you'll lose some of the BOV sound

Little present to myself turned up today :

RARB.jpg

RARB-1.jpg

RARB-2.jpg

Hoping once fitted this will work in harmony with the new H&R Springs to give the car better road handling and traction. Never fitted one before so hoping it's not too hard a job!

Found a nice fitting guide to help :)http://www.whiteline.com.au/instruction/Z362_BWR19.pdf

Went out tonight and managed to do a little bit of damage to my front passenger tyre. Not exactly sure how this happened but I have a large gash ( :giggle: ) in it :

So the car is looking a little bit ghetto now!

Tomorrow I'm on the hunt for either a set of 215/40/17 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta or Uniroyal RainSport 2. The Sportmaxx's have done a good job but do need changing.

I know how you feel i damage the rear tyre on vRS on wednesday so i fitted 2 Uniroyal rainsport 2 to the back

I was going to go for them if I couldn't get the Vredstein's

After my puncture incident the other day I decided it would be worthwhile to get 4 new tyres rather than just replace the front 2. I decided I wanted some Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta after rave reviews on tyre sites and other forums........and the fact they look pretty good ;). Only problem was no-one had any stock of them, I tried 3-4 places and there was just no stock anywhere.

I finally found some on LoveTyres.com but I wouldn't be able to get them until early next week and I needed them fitted this weekend. After a bit of bartering I managed to get them to send me the tyres on a Saturday delivery. I got up early yesterday just incase they turned up, 8am came, 9am came, 10am came, I was starting to get a little nervous. I then received a phone call from John @ LoveTyres saying they had been received at their warehouse in Hitchin instead of being delivered directly to my house. Not a problem as it's only the next town over and he said he would bring them to me. Ten minutes later he was at the door with the tyres in hand!

Soon enough I had them in the back of my car and ready to take to a friends shop to have them fitted.

Soon enough I went from this :

First impressions are that they are a lot more grippy than what I had previously, obviously they are only just wearing in so I will come back with an opinion in a few months.

With the tyres fitted I thought it was about time to get the Whiteline RARB on the car, only problem I had was the rear suspension bolts that seemed to be tightened by Superman! After a lot trying and forcing I gave up and drove back to my friends shop so he could loosen them for me. After that it was pretty much plain sailing.

The car seems to feel a little sharper but again I will report back once the tyres are bedded in so I can confirm or deny! Decided to pop down to Southend in the evening so got the car washed and waxed :)

The ARB seemed to be knocking last night so today I spent time checking it all over and making sure nothing was touching. It seems to have stopped now thankfully.

Now.....what to do next!

ha Im sure I saw that parked up earlier where you took the pics.

Suprised you didnt hear the Polo roaring out of B&Q (half of my exhaust is missing as some nice person tried to nick the cat so I can drown out M3s now!).

Looking very good. Be good to hear what you think of the ARB, never had one so be interested to see if they make much difference.

Will keep you up to date :)

Ok a little update on the new tyres and RARB......

I am blown away, the difference with the 215s and the RARB fitted is night and day. I'm not sure if it's one more than the other or a combination of them both but it's the best money I have spent recently on any car.

The car did seem better after dropping it 40mm but now it feels so pinpoint and tight. Taking corners at any speed now is a pleasure to do and the car feels spot on. Body roll and leaning has been eliminated :).

Might sound like I am bigging these products up but I really do think the handling on the car is now spot on and I couldn't be happier!

hum, I might have to invest for the Polo then if I keep it and dont get a Furby.

Oh and clean yer exhaust next time, its filthy dirty!

:giggle:

Car looks great

I've done lots of track work with 205/40/17 and 215/40/17 and the wider tyres make the car. You need that extra side wall width IMO, the outer edge on the old 205's just got shredded, I'm finding the 215's don't suffer from this.

Looks good!

The Race Blue & white roof combo works very well, and the lowering is how they should have left the factory!

VRS-Powered, your message box seems to be full.

I was going to see if you are around on Saturday as I'm going to the RWYB day.

Looks like a nice day for it.
