A much better air intake setup imo. During the summer I believe you will notice a big difference.

You still got good gains off the Pipercross bud, atleast you didn't buy the Forge kit!

Will see how this does at Pod in a couple of weeks :) will see if I can pick up the semi slicks soon too :)

aye thats true! could of been much worse with the forge kit.

what tyres are you thinking of going for?

Federal 595 RS-R's in 215-40-17 flavour, just trying to convince myself it's worth doing and that they will be ok driven on 40 miles a day to work.

I can vouch for the Federal ;).

Sent from my HTC One X through Tapatalk 2

First 100 miles were good with my Federals, but now i have about 300 miles on them and they have scrubbed in the grip is immense. Very surprised by the wet weather grip as well!!! Also quieter than the Conti 2 tyres. Win win all round IMO

Reckon they will be ok for a daily?

Reckon they will be ok for a daily?

I think they are fine for a daily. They handled the wet weather very well on the weekend and I eas provoking them to see how they gripped. The only issue with them as a daily is they won't last long. Conti 2 tyres have a treadwear rating of 280. Federals have a treadwear rating of 140!!! So a rough guess half the life

I am officially massivly jealous of the vRS owners, I really would love an estate one.

Just read all the way through this thread, very nice car indeed and seem's to go very well, not too bad time's down the 1/4mile too I need to get myself down there.

I think, if I remember, it was a seriously tuned up Fiesta Mk2 that was running silly power

Was the mk2 this one by any chance?

If so that was a slowish run for him, believe his best was 12.05 @ 128mph not sure if he has bettered it now.

Look forward to more updates from you soon

Hmmm might be worth just buying x2 for Pod use only then!

Never a better time to buy one ;)

Cheers for the kind words mate, it's quite quick down there but I always want it quicker! It looked similar to that but was blue and running R888 tyres.

Will update soon :)

Found my way to Ace Cafe on Tuesday night for VAG night, didn't see any other Skoda's :(

The colour looks really good at night. My old Octavia vRS was the same in the evening. Really gave off a great shine.

tbh they are only £115 a tyre. Thats why im not bothered about it. I wouldnt be using R888s as an everyday though at the price they are!!

No problem anytime. I know that's the problem with going quick, you always want to go faster haha.

ahh I see that red one above last I heard it was running 416bhp and spun the wheels all the way down the 1/4mile haha

My fronts look like they'll do about 4000 miles, not to bad if you are doing 2000 a year. :)

Too noisy for everyday use though IMO. Get a fair old hum over 50mph.

BTW, vrs-powered I think I saw you coming into WGC Sunday - we were going the other way in the blue Audi 80 Cab on Bridge Road.

I do 10K a year so no good for me :(

Ummmm Sunday.........don't think I was around that way bud

hum, looked like your car, blue with a white roof.

Think the vRS is a bit out of my price range now though, maybe a year or so ago but not now and it would be doing 18k a year when my work moves to Cambridge!

Mine is still pretty good on fuel, what MPG you getting at the mo ?

Kind of at a cross roads with modifications at the moment, got loads of plans but not sure where to go first.

Options are :

  • Decat downpipe and stage 2 mapping
  • 16" Front wheels and semi slicks
  • VAGCOM Hex+Can Cable

Obviously going stage 2 will cost a lot more so may not be worth it at the mo. Was thinking of VAGCOM as I can use it to modify a few bits I want to try out and also data logging while @ Pod.

Hmmmmmmm decisions decisions.

Also decided to stretch her legs in the next couple of days and will be driving her to Scotland and back, should prove a nice long run.

With Stage 2 business, are you going to settle with stage 2, or want more?

I'm at that point now where I know the max stage one will give me and tbh I want more. I've seen that Stage two requires the uprated exhaust and preferably an intercooler too, which will cost a pretty penny. If I was spending all that, I might as well get the hybrid turbo once its finished with development. You're already laying out a lot of cash for the bolt ons so might as well make the most of it!

Plus we all know in about a years time after going stage two you'll think "hmm shoulda gone for the turbo!"

My thoughts are to wait for the chaps who are running the hybrids just now to iron out all the kinks and get there cars sorted before moving any further. I want to see what the hybrid can produce before I settle on either going for that, or just keep the car as is for the next two years before handing it back to skoda. My mods (and yours TMC box ftw) are all reversible so we do have that slight safety net.

I think torque does a good enough job at monitoring the car, tbh and a vagcom is a big outlay if you're just wanting to change a few things here and there. I'm sure some beer tokens to a member here and they'd sort that out for you.

Thats what I think anyway..

Actually think that's one of the most helpful posts I've read in a long time, cheers lad :)

Polo does about 25mpg

I am waiting for the Furby to be available, my old estate went about 18 months ago. Superb has been exchanged for a brand-new silver 1.2 SE (supposedly the 69bhp 3-cyl thats on the offer but the spec sheet says TSi on it so I am waiting to see what actually turns up)
