Has anyone got or thought about putting freeview/tv in their car?

Featured Replies

Basically I have the ripspeed dv710 (http://www.google.co.uk/m/search?site=images&client=safari&hl=en&gl=uk&source=mog&aq=2&oq=ripspeed%2520dv7&aqi=p2g4-k0d2t0&fkt=749&fsdt=6524&cqt=&rst=&htf=&his=&maction=&q=ripspeed+dv710#i=10)

and it has a cable that is labeled video aux in so I got researching into it and I found one of the chaps from 106 owners has got the same stereo and he has wired up a freeview box to it that is 12v so it can go through the fag lighter :)

I fancy doing it to mine and I was wondering if anyone has done it before?

This is the freeview box I would get..

Thoughts?...

Go for it.

No reason why it wouldn't work.

If you are clever you can hide it behind the dash or the glove box and wire in the power to the stereo to the switched live so it is only on when the ignition is.

I have thought about getting a Seat Navigation unit and then an AUX input cable for it and doing something similar.

When I was looking into it as a matter of interest some years ago, ISTR reading that there can be problems with reception when travelling at speed, but that more expensive twin tuner systems with two aerials were designed to combat this. Can't remember the specifics..

Yeah I can see why this would be a problem.. However I don't think I will watch it as I am going along just the times when I'm waiting for someone etc.. That I would use it :)

Also do you think I could wire the areial to my original car aerial?

I very much doubt it. You might get a new aerial that has a TV aerial and radio aerial built in though. Not sure.
