How good are your cars emissions?

We have posts re "How good is your MPG" etc........BUT I thought I would do this as emissions are very important......also it could be argued that a cleaner exhaust with less MPG is better for being "green" than better MPG and higher emissions!.......Good old petrol vs diesel!!!!!

So post the car model, engine size & type, gearbox type, milage on test report, and the stats as per my example!

Fabia MKI, 2001, 1.4lt 16v 74kw, AUB, Petrol, 5speed manual, 48,408miles

FAST IDLE TEST

CO Level = 0.00%......must be less than 0.20%

HC Level = 8ppm......must be less than 200ppm

NATURAL IDLE TEST

CO Level = -0.01%......must be less than 0.30%

Well I had my MOT today!

Smoke opacity analysis

Limit 3.00 [m-1]

Opacity Mean Value : 0.89 [m -1]

Does that count?

Yes as that is the only test on a diesel........good result!

To give bit of perspective in the way that emissions have changed over the years:

1991 Ford Sierra 1.8 petrol, CVH engine, 90ps 66Kw, carburrettor without any emissions equipment, 5 speed manual.

Idle test only for the MOT, CO 0.212%, limit 3.5%, HC 252ppm, limit 1200ppm

Sometimes referred to as the NVH engine. I quite liked them when they were new in the 1.3, 1.4 and 1.6 Escorts/Orions and the 1.8 Sierras were noticeably better than the 1.6s. Not too bad for its time, with fuel consumption at 56mph being quoted as over 50mpg.
