Damp n/s front carpet

Cleaning out my 18 month old Fabia Estate which I bought in September from a Skoda retailer, when I discovered that the front passenger footwell was very wet and had stained the carpet mat on top of it. (hadn't noticed it before because I have rubber mats over the top). I know it's not from anything placed on top so it must be coming through from underneath. Has anyone else had this problem? And, more importantly has anyone identified the cause.

Will be contacting the service department tomorrow to ask them to rectify. Perhaps I should also raise this with the Skoda helpline.

Actually I had this very same problem on my 4 month old estate recently. The dealer said that water was getting in through the front bulkhead drivers side via a wiring loom I think, then running along a channel to the passenger side I believe. They reckoned that was definitely the problem but I haven't had a chance to drive it much yet to confirm.

Maybe ask your dealer to contact the guys at 'Specialist Cars Skoda' Dundee for more info on the silver vRS estate they did in early November.

May be the drain pipes (or sinks or flumes or what their name is) at the left and the right side of the car, in front of windshield and ending down to the front wheels arches are full of leaves and that's why the water enters the cabin.

Another reason is those plastic caps underneath the bodywork that prevents road water to come up to the cabin.

Otherwise it could be a leak from the door, either from door's panel, or from door's rubber.

Both first and second cases happened to Fabias of my friends. Third case happened in my previous MK1 Fabia (rear left door).

Bet it's the same problem I had....

Put something absorbent down (kitchen roll), then give the rear window washer a long blast.

For some reason my rear window spray leaks into the passenger foot-well when it's used, front washer is fine however.

The pipe splits behind the dash for the rear washer, dash normally has to come out to repair or replace the pipe.

anybody else had a lot of condensation on the inside of all the windows?

my carpets are dry yet i still get what i consider too much, to the point of it running down the screen

ive noticed if i run my finger along the top, inside of the door its often wet. im talking about the part where the rubber meets the car paint but this is only on the drivers door. ive been back and they say theyve adjusted something on the door but its no better. also after its been raining and i open the door i always get a few drops of water falling onto the seat, like the top of the door is holding water, maybe the felt like stuff along the top of the door isnt doing its job. i can accept this if its raining but the other day it hadnt rained for hours yet still did this

Many thanks to all those who responded my note. The car is booked into Birchwood Skoda Eastbourne on Monday and they have offered me a courtesy car for a couple of days whilst they sort it out.

I'll give them a list of the items from the post to consider!

In answer to the other questions raised. No it doesn't have a sun roof. I had no condesation problems until just before I spotted this leak. Try the pollen filter and associated things. As for rainwater dropping on the seat, this happens to lots of cars. To do with the shape of the car's roof/door etc. now that cars don't have gutters!

just had this sorted by my local dealer under warranty, they said it was the pipe for the rear washer which comes in with the loom behind the dash by the back of glovebox area. they fitted a "repair kit" which skoda do for this ?

Sorry for the delay. Turns out it was a split in the hose somewhere under the carpet (didn't ask exactly where).

Dealer took out the carpet and underlay and repaired the hose. How it became split is a mystery. I'm told this can happen if the washer is activated when the fluid is frozen but this would not have happen since I bought the car.

It is also recommended that screen washers are not used if there is a likelyhood of the fluid being frozen.

Whatever, I was offered a courtesy car for two days and the fault was fixed free of charge under warrenty.
