Tyre losing pressure

Featured Replies

Skoda superb 1 tyre keeps losing pressure, put on new tyres last time and this time same problem for the last two years, two sets of tires used. I think it's the alloy

Car is a 55 plate 1.9 tdi elegance with the 17 inch alloys.

My question is can I put in a tube in a tubeless tyre to solve the problem, as I am sick of going to tesco every week to fill up

It could obviously be the wheel is damaged somewhere. But when you got your last tyres put on did they throughly clean the old sealant off before applying new sealant and the tyre.

Anway if you go to decent enough tyre place they will drop it into a big tub and check it for where it is leaking.

No you can't put a tube into tubeless tyres.

Had a problem with one of my winters going down, took it to the local tyre place who showed me that it was leaking from the rim, he took the tyre off and used some rubber based sealent stuff and it's fine now

I have had similar problems it he past with debris from the rim pushing the bead away and deflating tyres. Decent tyre place would only charge about £5 to take the tyre off and clean the rim up.

Change tyre shop, remove/clean rim/reseal tyres :smirk:

Just had a leaky valve done for nowt while I was in for alignment.

A good tyre place will remove all old sealant, clean up, reseal, do beading and check valve. £12 per tyre is average for this in London/Essex.

The sealant does degrade after time so if it's just happening after 2 years, that's not too bad. If it's been happening since you got the last set done then that's not so good.

Find a decent independent tyre specialist and get the above done. Could be a puncture of course :(

Valves, get them changed. Will fix the problem i'm sure.

Take it to a tyre place.

They should do a free check to see where it's leaking from.

Then you can decide what to do.

Mine were leaking from the rim due to corrosion of the wheels.

Had my alloys blasted down and powder coated and they're all good now. They were corroding quite badley round the rim.

Until you have worked out where it's leaking from you can't really do much.

Same problem for me - took it to another garage and asked them to look into it. The guy did a pukka cleaning job on the rim and applied sealant. Problem solved - £10. Including rebalance.
