Remove EML warning

Featured Replies

Is there anyway to remove an EML without the use of a vagcom fault reader or not

No, unless you fix the fault, which you need a code reader to find in the first place.

And this is in the wrong section but seeing as you are new I'll let you live

I'll move it now

i already got the garage to replace the eml and they reset it but it just came back on as i got home

Then the fault is still there, it's no good just turning the light out,

What do you mean 'replace EML and they reset it' ???

Replace egr maybe???

That's what I meant

you can turn it off with out vagcom but it is a long sequnce of engine of/on open door type of procedure my friend showed me how to do it but i decided to leave it on for know as it was that long.

the idle now after the replace has gone incredibly lumpy so much so that on a 10 minute drive it kept dropping revs from 950 to 50 and then stalled itself (handbrake on and out of gear)and i have only had the car 2 weeks but absolutely love it and dont want to get rid of it

That's what I meant

Take it back and let them have another look, it could be a different fault mind.

please guys any help would be greatly appreciated

We are not mind readers, perhaps a bit of punctuation would help as well.

Type it back out in something legible and someone may be able to help if they know what you are on about.

I'm still confused as to what has been done to be honest

its all there i replaced the EGR and they reset the EML. Then the next day it was back on and the idle when sat at a junction was jumping between normal and stalling and would then stall.

Take it back to the garage - If the light has returned, they havent fixed the problem.

The new EGR valve has not been correctly adapted, take it back to the garage and tell them to run the EGR adaptation routine in their software, the ECU doesn't know when the new EGR valve is fully open and fully closed and has therefore thrown the EML.

You can't simply replace the EGR valve and reset the fault, it doesn't work that way. The garage may also have unplugged the throttle body to clean it in which case they will also need to re-adapt that before the engine will run properly.

And you may find it wasn't the EGR valve that is faulty, a lot of people miss the port being blocked under the throttle body which flags up an insufficient flow fault.
