Can I improve on Drive The Deal's prices?

Featured Replies

Drive the deal have quoted me £16,920 for a greenline 2 se with in met steel grey, factory order of 14 weeks.

I've gone back to my local dealer who is going to try and match that price.

Somebody mentioned in another post that they emailed every dealer in the country and waited for them to beat DTD price.

Anybody else offer good proven buying tactics?

Autoebid's target price for this spec with metallic paint as the only option is £16864 (I assume you mean the saloon not the estate).

Unless someone matches or betters that price you don't have to buy.

I got my Greenline Estate vie Autoebid and found they were about £500 less than Drive The Deal for what I wanted (I ordered back in April).

Local dealers said they couldn't match, let alone beat the Autoebid price(or D the D for that matter)

Happy hunting!

Have a look at WWW.carfile.net never used them but they were cheaper than dtd when I looked at a new labia vrs and were very good when I spoke on the phone to them.

As the car will eventually come through a dealer it may be worth having a ring around. I just picked 10 dealers from the list phoned them with my spec and let them do their thing.

I ended up with my first choice of dealer (Progress in Letchworth) and although they were a little bit more than DTD and Broadspeed I was impressed with their service and the fact that it wouldn't take me a day to go and pick the car up!

New labia???

Wrong sort of website I fear. Good typo though!

Autoebid is a kind of reverse auction by the sound of it.

You set a target price and they compete to be lower?

how many dealers replied - and how many beat the suggested target price?

also you were happy to give card deatails before getting price?

Just joined autoebid - the 2 day auction starts monday and finishes wednesday afternoon. Will wait and see.

Bought 2 cars via Autoebid (including my current Mk1 2.5 Superb). Found them to be excellent and got best price. However I would have suggested giving it 5 days rather than 2 for bids. I'll certainly use them when looking to replace current car. Good luck.

Found them 100% above board - and nothing to pay unless a dealer matches or beats the target price.

If and when I buy another new car I will try them again.

I got my superb from drive the deal, but my fabia from car file. Car file were better IMHO. Both were fine and actually easier than using a dealer. Car file were very good and offered £500 under the vat deal with free delivery.

Ok after a decent attempt it seems £19,920 is as low as I'm going to get.

Autoebid will be getting the order as they have been the most patient with me ! and answered all my questions.

I found out that 2012 MY cars will be Platin Grey which has replaced Steel Grey.
