Switchable Tuning Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

I have been reading with intrest the idea of re-mapping where you can switch the car from standard mode to re-map mode. When loading, say from standard to re-map mode or vise versa is there a chance that it may fail or get stuck when loading. Computors can lock up, if so how is the problem solved? Can the engine get stuck between modes and how many times can you swich over?

Don't know if there is a limit for swaps but I guess like FLASH programming there is a finite value.

IIRC...One Click stresses that you shouldn't remove the module before code swap is complete.

I would also assume that in the event of a module lock up no code is swapped and that the ECU retains whatever was on there before swap process started.

Most flash chips easily do 10,000 swaps, but then I don't know what the ECU uses for it's chips. There is definitely some safety interlock as otherwise there would be a lot of problems with this I'd imagine

So you are saying that both modes are on the ecu and all you are doing is turning one on or off......... (sorry I'm a bit green in this area)

For Revo, yes. The SPS box you get from Revo just allows you to effectively select which map is being used in the ECU where both are stored.

With the 1click, the maps are stored on the actual box you plug into the OBD port.

I guess it stores both maps and uploads whichever one isn't currently in the ECU. I don't know how long it takes to change map with the SPS switch, but it's probably a lot faster than the 1click because you're not sending the map.

Xavier has got it!

By the way, I wasn't knocking the Oneclick... Just saying you have to be carefull with it, as if the transfer gets interrupted, it's off to VW for a new ECU (or back to AmD to get them to sort it for you).

Or you could get a Mr Hoot tuning box, about

as most people say apart from servicing why would you want to switch back???
