Immobiliser? What immobiliser?

Featured Replies

hi folks...I have felly 1.3mpi....and I see lots of references by those-in-the-know, to immobilisers.

My car is the basic permanently-penniless version, without power steering, or electric windows but with thumb door locking, and a consistent 45-plus MPG's.

The key has..apparently, no little silver baubles inside it.....so..do I have an immobiliser I don't know about?

[it's a R-reg estate....cheap to repair, cheap to run, goes like stink if I need to, and handles 250kg of coal without complaint.]

It's an RFID defice fitted in the keyfob , which is sensed by a unit in the dash .I raised this question last year when my daughter gave me her old one till MOT ran out .If you contact Skoda with the vehicle info ,they'll confirm if it's a Thatcham 1 or 2 -might get some bucks off insurance with that info .Quite a few posts on here about it .Most insurance companies wait for you to pick this up and challenge them on it .They have all the performance specs ,but are very ignorant on security /safety items .

I was used to a Furby ,but got to like the little Felica .

thanks....with you now.......Luckily I have a spare key.....managed to get the search function working on here...and have just tried it outside...seems to work.....drove 5 miles without the engine cutting out....so it must be the 'correct' key....?

Yeah, if the immo wasn't programmed it would fire up for about half a second then die.

I agree above would die after a second.... you can get a spare cut and cloned...
