Because there is a pre-meditated intent to potentially claim warantee work to which one may not have been entitled via concealment of the facts; i.e. to defraud the dealer.

Our dealer experiences would strongly point to quite the opposite though! Unlucky customers having to lose endless working days making phone calls and trips to dealers and legal representatives in order to get their money back on situations where the fault should have been covered under warranty in the first place. For as much as we've seen (in this forum and others) a dealer will most probably try to work his way avoiding a free repair/replacement by seeking every possible and impossible cause for your problem, the stories are many. That said, I would happily remove the box If I ever had to request warranty work of any kind, as I am 101% they would blame the box even If I had a failed boot lock, trying to prove you are not an elephant can sometimes be hard...

Cor Blimey ! Didin't think the thread (which was to be happy with the results) would spiral into some of the replies.

vRSy is absolutely spot on in his posts. I feel like I am not taking any 'chances' whatsoever.

The engine & gearbox are well within these limits. Regardless of some of the bad issues some have had, which of course, are very unfortunate.

These are VW engines & gearboxes after all. This stands for a lot to me, reliability, longevity, engineering excellence. performance etc.

If I am unkucky and have one of those 'dodgy' Friday afternoon mechanicals, then so be it. I am going to enjoy my very hard earned cash in the way I feel fit to. I may as well post on the 'Retro fitting Cruise Control' thread and mention -

"Hey guys, be very careful. You could wire it up incorrectly and set the car on fire, invalidating your warranty".

Of course I understand that there is an element of risk in any modification to anything unintended for that purpose, but for heavens sake, live a little. We're a long time dead :(

OOPS, forgot to mention, the cost of invalidating my warranty was a bargain £411

No need to being upset. When posting publicly on a forum its probable (and productive) to have different opinions heard. Somebody said "great, I will do it too", somebody else questioned what happens If you need something replaced under warranty, didn't say remove your remap! or anything else to provoke reactions so why all the fuss? Apparently, for some, this may be an interesting topic of discussion, surely nobody cares telling people what to do with their money, chill out guys...

Back on topic, 411 was the price for the remap alone? I am damn curious as to how better the engine response would be since I find it more than adequate in most occasions. Ok, maybe I could use just a little power between 3500-4500 but is it so obvious as other people have with only a 10% power increase? I have been wondering for quite a long time... :p

Are you serious? What a useless and pointless post. Is that jealosy or something!!

I'm sure if he was truly bothered he wouldn't have done it, or would have started one of the ''will a remap void warranty" threads.

Having a bad day are we, its not that I am jealous or anything (I now have a leon cupra remapped to 300 bhp)its just when I went to see about having my car remapped by revo I was told I should wait until the car had its first service and any Skoda updates and to think strongly about my warranty. As my car was using so much oil and had a few other problems I p/x it, what happens when this poor lad checks he oil in a few hundred miles and has none.

I'm completely chilled. B)

The standard car is completely adequate, more than that, I think it's brilliant !

It is no comparison to the Revo mapped car though. Believe me. It's not just the mid-range (which is most noticeable) but throughout the entire rev range. Just a different car.

What I would say is though, it takes a few miles to re-learn your starting off from standstill as I now 'feather' the throttle.

For those who feel that "a little over 10%" seems a little low, it feels like 30%, AT LEAST ! :D

Damn... At least there's an awfull weather around here and will go like that for some time plus I got the winters on so that will keep me quiet for the next 1-2 months, as I wouldn't be able to exploit the additional power. However, it looks it will be extremely difficult for me to continue to resist when weather gets better... :D

Honestly, I just can't sum up just how great the car is now.

I had the Mk1 Fabia VRS with a 'Oneclick' generic map through the OBD port. That was very good indeed

This custom map is way better than I ever expected and now I know why the serious tuners always go for a custom map :o

Sorry your topic went off a bit mate!

Your fab looks stunning, guessing you got the SPS switch too? H&R springs look like a perfect drop, any side on shots? How are they compared to standard?

Liking it mate!!

As above can we have a some more pics I'm deciding what springs to go for. Are they the H&R 40mm drop all round?

You said above it was a custom remap, so is it an awesome GTI map or the revo generic?

The reason I is a custom map has to be done on the rollers or on road, taking logs an changing. And revo is just a file they copy on isn't it?

Defnine a custom and a generic map though. Every tuner will say their map is custom, its just sales jargon.

The std revo flash will be a generic file that they have developed as a base map. The tuners are abke to adjust the boost, timing and fueling amongst other things on this base map to allow it tobe customised to the individual car. This is pretty much thesame for all tuners.

A custom map is built new every time and takes ALOT longer than an hour to develop as its built from the std map upwards. Your easily looking at 6hours plus.

But what is better

A generic base map that has been developed after any many hours, days or weeks of R&D which can be tweaked to suit individual cars by tunersand dealeeships in less than an hour including logs aand testing.

or

A 'custom' map which has taken over a day to develop the map but hasnt undergone all the weeks of R&D.

Yes, so how do awesome know what to change without using rollers, I take it they must take it out and do some logs?

I thought they just installed it and that was that for them, and the custom map was when they start changing different parameters to suit the car and charge more for the time an development

Then its not a custom map, its just a generic change. Maybe its a generic base map that is tweaked slightly to customise it to the car, but its not a proper custom job.

Id like to think they would take the car out onto the road before and after to take logs, as any good tuner would.

Here's a couple more shots if they help. I didn't measure the arches, so if you want the measurement, just shout.

They do seem like a nice drop and sorry to go on about the ride, but it's great !

The map was a generic one from Revo. My mistake. Extremely smooth & altogether awesome

All that lovely power and your cant use it because of the snow :D

Looks so much better with the springs fitted. Doesnt look like its on stilts anymore.

Nice motor mate. Glad to see another with Dark Chromes (defo the best wheel choice ;) ).

Map sounds fab, will be well tempted to invest in one next year

I don't understand the "dealer will try to wriggle out of warranty work if its mapped" thing. Dealers LOVE warranty work - the cost is paid to them from the manafacturer so if they are turning it down they are losing profits..... Most dealers make decent cash from working on warranty claims, no matter how dubious. If Skoda UK on the other hand looked at the car, obviously I can see them using any reason (such as a remap) to dodge paying up.

:giggle: from those pictures it looks like the snow is scared of the Fabia! Only car not to have snow on it!

Sounds fantastic Jon

Good luck with it and I know you will ignore the negative comments

I would too.

My dealer made that exact statement (not regarding remaps) but regarding ANY warranty work. He said they would rather just get any warranty issues sorted in house and claim the money, than grumble about wether or not a problem really was warranty or not.

That was from the business Manager of the branch

What's the link to the springs mate?

What's the link to the springs mate?

Sorry don't have one. Awesome GTi ordered them for me and they fitted them on recommendation.

Here you go matey....Awesome tuning

Yeah, that's Awesomes link, but there's no real link directly to the H&R springs. Give them a ring.
