Model differences

Featured Replies

How are ye lads? I don't know if ye require introductions on the forum. I don't own a skoda, don't even own a car(biker). I'm here on behalf of a friend. He hit some ice yesterday and did some damage to his Octavia. It's a 2002 car.

Wikipedia tells me there's only two model of octavia MKI & MkII, however a part finder website tells me there's three i.e 1996-2000, 2000-2007 and 2004-2009. Is this right? how different are the 96-00 and the 00-07? How would i tell them apart?

His 02 is a 1.9tdi, he's trying to find out if the body panels from a 00 1.6glxi would fit.

Any information would be appreciated and apologies if this post is a bit rambling. I went from sleeping to asking the internet about octavia models in a very short time.

Cheers,

02 makes it a mk1 (post facelist), an 00 is mk1 (pre facelift).

Pre-facelift trims were glx, etc (thus mk1a: 1996-2000)

Post-facelift trims were muchy more wordy: Ambiente, Elegance, L&K (mk1b: 2000-2007)

I think most of the metal bodywork is the same. The rad grill is different between the pre- and post-facelift, as are the headlights. Rear light clusters are different too.

Tell us what bits your mate needs to change and I am sure someone will advise...
