Fritzi(fabia 1.4 16v) talks to me when i drive

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

my missus Fabia is playing up a little.

when driving the car locks and unlocks itself continually.

the rear passengerside lock feels a little stiffer than the rear driverside lock but both go up and down when i use the key.

is there a relay specific for the central locking that could be broken? is it a common problem?

jesus not a single view yet

Sounds like a dodgy microswitch in one of the locks.

When you drive it locks itself then the dodgy switch tells the car the door has been opened and so unlocks the doors. Must be the drivers side I think if it is unlocking all the doors as the passenger door doesn't do that when you open it.

okay that sounds good,

so is there a way i can fix it without have to change the lock itself???

also if someone else(tech1e) could second what philje123 says that would be perfect..

thanks Philje123

Switch is part of the lock assembly, but check all the connectors inside the door for tightness and corrosion, also check the large connector on the 'a' pillar with the door open for access. You may be able to pin the fault down with some good old fashioned thumping bits, to see what area triggers the fault.
