front end woes!

Featured Replies

I too am p---d of with the supplying dealer , after they caved in both sills whilst ramping the car for service and trying to trace a persistent front end "groan" ,possibly suspension or calipermmount related . Although it sometimes sounds like the engine is jumping on it's mounts on bumps. The engine is real easy to rock fore & aft , with just the tips of your fingers , especially when the under-hood temperature is hot and the mounts more pliable ."It's supposed to sir- it's rubber mounted " Well , b*gg*r me , it's not is it?

But the real annoying thing is that on bumps , pot-holes and cobbles , which we occasionally find on uk roads , the steering seems to get sloppy , and the column rattles as tho' the column bushes are shot- rather like the feel you get when turning the wheel the extent of free play with the engine and power steering off .

Predictably , Dealer-U-Don't-Like finds nothing wrong .Same as when they put the 3rd set of discs on under warranty and left the nearside front making a "tambourine"-like sound on bumps which was'nt there when I left the car with 'em..."It's just the suspensin working , sir..." I keep thinking , it's a tambourine under there , funny thing is I don't rember running over any Salvation Army types......

Anyone had any experience of the steering feeling like that ? or discs continually warping ? Oh , and BTW , D-U-D-L did a brake fluid change at the first service , and left 'em spongy as hell, "it's a diesel sir , they all feel like that ,diesels , It'll come ok when the pads and discs have bedded-in."

It has'nt after 7000 miles, and the pedal still pups up as tho' things need bleeding properly.

Dealers , eh?....

Is this the right forum for French cars :)
