Skoda Service Plan

Featured Replies

Got a quote from a local VAG specialist for a fixed service on my PD vRS. They reckoned about £120.

My local Skoda dealer is offering two services, two MOT's (including any costs required to pass those MOT's) for £299.

Assuming £40 for an MOT I work it out to be £320 at my local indy and £299 for main dealer.

The advantage of the main dealer is it strengthens the case for any future goodwill contributions in the case of any unexpected repair bills and the full 'Skoda service history'.

What do you reckon?

If the indy is a vag specialist and you have happily used them before stick with them. If not the skoda deal sounds reasonable.

I always like vag stamps in my fsh book lol

(including any costs required to pass those MOT's)

That statement could be worth the money on its own.

i just had my "service in 900 miles or 231 days" pop up tonight :wonder: , did you just call the dealer about that service deal??

There has to be a catch for the MOT. If not i would blatently bribe a tyre dealer to put 4 illegal tyres on my car for my MOT

yeh i seen that but its the oil service and inspection service that puzzles me, only 1x inspection or 1x oil service? or am i reading it wrong. :giggle:

Of the two services you can only have one of each i.e 1x inspection and 1x oil service, not 2x inspection I assume?

I took this offer out when i bought my octy last august,i got £100 of vouchers which can be used for parts or against any extra work req,no mot offer though,i have had the 3rd service done & brake fluid change, next one is 4th so plan was a good buy for me(with vouchers its cost me £199 for 3rd & 4th services(4th is a big service),you get 2 fixed services,1 of each type, mine is on fixed servicing,im not sure if you can get this plan on variable servicing. There is a maximum milage on the plan of 20k from the mileage on the car when the plan is taken out.

You can get an MOT at most places for £30. Never paid more than this for mine

I got this plan too, last year with the £100 vouchers. £299 - £100 = £199 for two services was a bargain.

I also have it to cover my third and fourth service (fixed). The 4th service is due next summer which is the four year major cambelt service. I'm still not sure what I will get for free. I assume that the cambelt itself and the labour to fit it will be extra as the service plan only covers the parts and labour for an inspection service.

I know the price of an MOT varies but I've always thought that the places that offer the discounted MOT's will try and recoup some of that cost by 'finding' faults? Either way and average MOT is around £40 these days, so...

£299 - £40 - £40 = £219, so a little more than the previous offer with the vouchers but this time you get the 'MOT Protection' for what is essentially £20?

I did this on last year's offer and my car is now out of warranty. Second service due in about two weeks and I've no doubt I'll be better off overall. I got reduced price MOTs too but no protection. Also the maintenance of the potential good will is important, especially as I've just had a new engine wiring harness out of Skoda UK on good will

Mine is 2 year old in March and never had a service

Ive done nearly 16000..so it will be due one soon
