vrs servicing

Featured Replies

Hi there.

After owning the se for a few months now, its coming up to its 4 year, 40k service.

I been quoted 345 for this from my local skoda garage in bilston. Was told its a biggy all fludeds pollen filter etc.

Is this about right?

My farther inlaw a6 allroad was quoted 350 for his big service at Audi.

Just want some thoughts

Guessing it's oil, oil filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, brake fluid (due every 2 years) included in that? You should also be looking into getting the cambelt, tensioners and water pump replaced, as these are on a 60k/4 year schedule (I believe). Even though you haven't done the milage, the rubber ages so there's a time limit on it as well.

At a decent Independent you'd be looking around £200

Cambelt was done prior to buying it.

The only thing I was wandering tho it came with 12months warrenty

The 345 must be quoting for the cambelt change aswell

Advise them this has been done and you just want the full service about !89 from a good independent

No it won't. The 40,000 service is a big one. As well as additional filters it also coincides with a brake fluid change.

£345 is however a bit pricey compared to my experience. I was quoted about £285 but it actually came in at about £280. However in my case it was covered by the £299 two-year service package I bought with the car.

What wasn't covered by my service contract was the cambelt change but the £380 this cost was partly covered by a £150 voucher negotiated as part of the sale deal, and a £100 voucher received from Skoda when I bought the service contract - so it was actually about £130.

However without service contract and one-off discounts the normal full 40,000 service at a Skoda dealer should cost about £285 + £380 = £665

Pretty sure we would be sub £300 even as a main dealer.

Plus you might be able to get a £299 ssp and get the next service free? Not sure on what plans are what would need to talk to front counter.

£345!? I'd rather do it myself!
