Will i notice the difference?

Featured Replies

Been really looking into 312mm fronts i dnt go racing around, drive enthusticly occasionaly but as i carry my little boy its rare when its only me, if i fitted bigger brakes will i really notice the difference on normal

Day to day driving?

You will notice the improved pedal feel.

I'm doing this right now, I have a set of MK1 Octy callipers and carriers etc. Could anyone provide a good guide to bleeding the brakes please. Good to know we will feel a difference.

I noticed a big difference between std and 312's. Great mod! As for bleeding, get a gunson ez bleed :)

Best mod you can do, although rip of insurance companies will try and hike your premium, even though it's a safety mod. Do NOT bleed the brakes using the old pedal to the floor method, you can wreck the master cylinder seals. Pressure bleed, or stick a block of wood under the brake pedal to prevent it going down too far when bleeding the old fashioned way. Remove before driving

Pedal will still feel a bit mushy at idle, due to diesel creep (mechanical vacuum pump). Much better than standard brakes though.

Ok cheers guys looks like im ordering some then :)

are the fronts enough or would it be better getting the full setup?

I broke a vRS last year for parts for my vRS so I have the Rears off that and my original fronts from my vRS Octavia as Ive got LCR Brembos for it. Is it too much hassle to do the rears too? I am only using uprated parts on the Fabia seen as Ive got them. other than that the car is std, and staying like that.

I have noticed the Fabai std brakes are crap and I only use the car for normal driving, never fly round.

You can use the rear brakes on the fab as long as the octy wasnt 4x4. Think its more for looks than anything, from searching and other posts the rears dont do much work, but the 312's on the front are great.

Id do it purely for the fact you carry your son ib the car. As we all no the 288 brakes a shocking after a few hard stops.

Ur right they are shocking but i just thought its down to being worn

Heard this before but never really understand why. Why does it wreck your master cylinder seals?

Doesnt it turn them inside out?

I think it's because the seals travel past the usual point in the cylinder (with no back pressure) and can become damaged. I knackered the seals on my Favorit using this method. A Gunson Eezibleed is a useful tool. It uses air pressure from a spare tyre to push fluid through the system, and keeps the fluid topped up as you go.

Still a little vague, can someone elaborate?

Is it the back pressure when the pedal comes back up?

Eezibleed pushes the fluid without the need to push the pedal

I know how an eezi bleed works. I want to know why it's bad to bleed brakes using the two man method.
