Try margarine. No, I'm serious! Tar should disolve in fat.

Yep works a treat, simply massage it into the tar spots, great tip as it wont damage the laquer. Especially good tip if you are getting tar off of paintwork, needs a bit of work but leaves no mark.

If its not as good why buy it !, Dont forget MC2 can be diluted for most uses therefore you actually get a lot more for your money

Strangely enough it's what we used to use in Accident & Emergency for removing tar from people!!

I can hear the question already......how did people get tar on them?

Worst one I remember is a roofer whose tar boiler exploded all over him...very painful and a very long job to get the tar off...I think the hospital canteen were getting very suss about the nurses asking for 5 Kg tubs of marg......probably thought we were swaning about eating loads of toast :D

Lighter fluid comes in small tins, although quantity isn't marked on it I suspect its only 250-400 mls max.

It also says on it that it can be used for grease/tar removal.

I've even used it to remove the sticky mess left behind on CD covers when you remove the price stickers.....gets my vote every time but then I am a tight Scotsman :cool:

Quite true it's just hearsay, haven't tried it myself as with the mc2 so can't comment. It's just i've heard them rave about it on uk-mkivs,as with everything something might work for one person but not someone else! Because the lighter fluid option is cheapest:) i will give that a go first,if i don't get on with it i will probably invest in some mc2 or try the margarine,i can hear the neighbours now"what the hell is he doing cleaning his car with marge:rofl:"

Thanks for the advice tho

and here

What with margerine for tar spots, peanut butter for black trim, and boot polish for tyres I'm beginning to think April has come early :)

Does it matter if the marg is polyunsaturated :rofl::rofl:

Gr8 tips like but I'll pay the extra

It's not the first time this has cropped up but I really do think that anyone considering an MC2 purchase should read this http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/ttforumbbs/viewtopic.php?t=38192

And unfortunately I do mean all eleven pages including links.

Just done it (what a sad, empty life I currently lead!!)

All I can say is :rofl::rofl::rofl:

:grouphug:

Did I mention the word CONcoction before in this thread :D:D

shouldn't be so smug, pride always comes before a fall............

Gunk is the best thing in the world :) works on every mark, just dont keep it on for too long :D

Right...

when the alloys are all nice and clean and the marge is off what is the best thing to put on there to protect them? Someone mentioned wax i think.

Cue people telling me to rub them with candles

To keep the alloys spotless and free from brake dust and tar just don't fit them back onto the car :D:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
