Is the 0-60 based on the speed the car thinks it is doing or on gps based speed?

Also does the app work on all Android phones? I seem to remember seeing something, somewhere about someone having an issue with a Samsung phone.

I think it takes speed from the ECU rather than GPs

Should work on any 2.2 and above

Just got one of the OBD devices and the Torque app. Nice and easy to setup, looks fantastic just need to figure out how the logging works to review things. Got a phone holder on order so should be able to see it better in a day or so!

One question, the ELM327 device plugs into the OBD connector, which in the Furby2 means having the facia off the fuse panel. When I had a look the OBD connector can be removed from the socket it is in and there seems to be space behind to have it connected to the dongle and the trim back on. Anyone tried this or is there a reason I shouldn't do it? Connector is just held in by three little plastic clips.

I want to do that in my superb, as it hangs by the accelerator. I would see no harm in trying it as long as your careful, as I accept no responsibility if it goes wrong (just covering my a*se there :giggle: )

Are you talking about the ELM327 in specific?

Because it seems quite tightly clipped and on the end of it I see something like a plastic "rivet" which I believe would be difficult to remove without smashing. I received my ELM327 too and there is loads of information showing up on Torque. Thing is, if you can't leave it permanently on and at the same time have the fuses covered you'll end up leaving it a some drawer at home.

Also, how accurate are the 0-100 (0-62) measurements? Are the values taken from the ECU's speedo or the GPS signal? I managed a 6.719" with tyres and oil in perfect temperature which still sounds very optimistic for a stock vRS...

Stock vRS on the strip has made 0-60 in about 6.3 seconds I believe, so 6.7 is perfectly realistic i think :)

I wonder how/why is this not reflected in magazine's reviews and measurements with vbox etc. I was reading a test the other day where both the polo and the vRS were measured to do 7.1" in the 0-100 KPH and although it's slightly better than official 7.3" it still is away from a 6.7" that I achieved without any problem and quite a difference to be justified from tyres/external conditions no? So I am still not convinced it is a true number. I think I should time my friend's Mito 155 with the same equipment and see how much +/- it is from the quoted 8.0" official value.

Mine did 6.58 0-60 in stock form @ GTI Internation 2011

I believe it was yours I was remembering, you posted the times up here too didn't you?

Skoda figures are often achieved with passengers and fuel on board.... Tyres make a bug difference too, you'd be surprised how much... When me and can dud back to back testing, he was getting wheelspin in first second abd third, abd I was getting none ( he was of course on the dunlops)

So I can beleive a mag on dunlops can get 7.1 and the cove poster cab get 6.5 , I think both are genuine figures...

just ordered one of these OBDII badgers. Much easier than using VCDS with a laptop as its all sorted straight away into dials that i can view easily.

VCDS might well be more thorough but its excel and needs sorting out after

Gotta say im glad I found this.

Sorted my College Graded Unit out no bother! We have to do a huge case study on managing a project for our Engineering course. Managed to snag mines on doing it based on my car and it effects of using induction kits or the standard car intake haha.

Made my research so much easier!

Meaning taking the cars OBD connector out of its little hole so that the OBD device, yes the one pictured, can stay connected and still have the facia in place.

The Torque app gives you the option of 0-60 based on ecu or gps speed. I've setup a page with both on. The gps speed seems to take a while to update so on acceleration lags the ecu speed but when steady it does seem to read accurately. The ecu speed is a bit lower than gps when steady, not sure what the actual difference is as didn't pay it that much attention, also I have winter tyres and wheels fitted so slightly different circumference to stock tyres and wheels.
